Hello ladies and natural hair lovers, so this is it, in April 2015 I cut my relaxed hair off during my big chop I just got tired of it because my hair is very soft and light and each time I relaxed it, it would just become very smooth and almost lifeless. I even decided to get dreadlocks but when I got to the saloon they told me my hair was relaxed and it wouldn't hold and even if it did, once it's locked it would be permanent and I could never comb it out unless I cut it off. I was a bit disappointed because I just wanted something different for my hair.

So I went on line and started browsing on things to do to my hair. This led me to discovering YouTube videos of black African American ladies who were rocking their natural hair and having fun with it. Mind you I never noticed anyone in Nigeria by that time carrying their natural hair except some Deeper Lifers.

So I got excited and let's rewind back to the big chop. Big chopped in April 2015, just 3 weeks after my last relaxing. I carried my natural hair till last year September 2018.

l became tired of always detangling because my ends were always tangled (I believe i'm not alone in this). Nothing I did worked, deep conditioning, Shea butter, coconut oil... I tried them all. The only thing I didn't do was flat ironing my hair or straighten it with a hair iron, which I would never do. Let's face it my hair is naturally curly and I love it that way no matter what.

So guess what I did... Big Chopped No 2.

Finally I felt free, it was like before when I did the first big chop... I guess I forgot to mention that I love short hair.. Despite the cons ( looking like a man, not feeling feminine, less attention or none at all from the opposite sex). If anyone has been there, then you'll understand what i'm saying.

Now we're in 2019, so since September 2018 to last week I've been finger coiling my hair and going out with it or rocking a low cut. So 2 weeks ago I was on YouTube again and just checking some videos and I came across images of black American women who are carrying hairs that looked like dreadlocks. Only they don't call them dreadlocks but just locs.

After much information gathering and research, yours truly decided to loc her hair. I'm only a week into it, I did it myself and I just wanted to share it with other ladies to see how many like me are out there.

So here's a picture of my starter locs, newly done and 1 week later.

I'm excited about this journey I know my hair is gonna evolve in so many ways and I can't wait to see what it will become.
