What most people do not understand or do not want to understand is that this Messi guy had said he was not leaving Barcelona even before he played for the Barca senior team because of what Barcelona has done for him.

I use to ask why does most player seek to leave their clubs and most of the reasons have always been either player seeks more pay, or playing time or issues with coach or being played out of strength etc.

If you ask anyone who watched football from the 80s till present times you would know that defensively wen you are looking for the best defensive player or players in football you will not fail to mention the likes of Franco Baresi, Maldini, Costaturta (can't really get the spelling), etc.

These are the best defenders in the game esp Maldini ń Baresi. Maldini played an upward of 24 years for Milan till he retired and won 5 champions leagues for Milan and he started and finished his career with Milan.

He absolutely does not need to change clubs to prove what he has already proven to the whole world. That he is simply a freak of nature with the ball at his feet. I think his loyalty to barca says a lot about him as a man of honor. He is awesomely paid and adored by barca fans and great football lovers alike. Barca play his type of tiki-taka style soccer. His family is happy there and none of his friends and folks are complaining about barca whatsoever. So why change when the grass is already greener there?

Plus Barca is the one club that believed in his football when he was nothing and supported him off the field financially with his parents battling a growth deficiency syndrome he had then that they couldn't afford as at then. So if I were him, I'd do the same. I'd stick with those who stuck by me when I was hopeless. For those are the ones that truly love and appreciate me unconditionally. In this case Barcelona......
