Your Emotional Appeal A Gambit Doomed To Fail, Presidency Tells Atiku by Ofunaofu: 3:27am On Aug 03, 2019
The Presidency on Friday, described as laughable efforts by the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the February 23 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to appeal to the emotions of Nigerians, particularly members of the judiciary, thinking it would in any way influence decision in the ongoing legal tussle over the result of the presidential poll.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina in Abuja stated that “first, it was laughable, now it gets progressively pitiable,” to see and hear Alhaji Abubakar making such emotional appeal. Adesina said when the nation’s apex court, the Supreme Court recently pronounced the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as due winner of Osun State gubernatorial contest, Alhaji Abubakar, a former Vice President, had chided the court, saying it should have considered “the pulse of the nation,” and reflected it in the judgment.
According to him, that was when the jigsaw puzzle began to fall in place.
He stated: “Where most of the challenges in the country being orchestrated by hidden hostile hands, who think such would influence the judiciary, which would consider the so-called “pulse of the nation” in arriving at judgment on the presidential poll? “Before and after the Osun State judgement, the PDP candidate had always been quick to play up negative developments in the country, the latest of which is the tendentious story by Wall Street Journal, alleging that about one thousand Nigerian soldiers had been recently killed by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa terrorists, and secretly buried by Nigerian military authorities.
“The military has duly countered the story, educating the Wall Street Journal on the hollowness of its publication. But Alhaji Abubakar has quickly weighed in on the matter, as part of his gambit to whip up emotions, and perhaps get the judiciary to reflect the “pulse of the nation” in its judgment.
“According to the PDP candidate, who lost the last February poll by nearly four million votes, as released by the electoral umpire, he could “not fathom that in the space of a year, scores of great patriots were killed and buried secretly without their families being told.” Military denies existence of 1,000 secret graveyards in the North East theatre“In an apparent afterthought and doublespeak, he added that he was hesitant to believe that “such grand scale of deceit is even possible under a democracy, such as Nigeria is expected to be.”
“The above, rather than mitigate Alhaji Abubakar’ Atiku’s position, gives him out as someone who denigrates the country’s democracy, which he was part of building, in his heyday, before unbridled ambition blinded.
“Yes, soldiers fighting insurgency and terrorism are great patriots. But the same can’t be said of anyone quick to believe any negative story about his country, however fictive and lacking in verity as the story could be. Well, except such person had the motive of whipping up negative sentiments and emotions, so that the judiciary could respond to the “pulse of the nation and reflect it.”
“We have told Alhaji Abubakar and his co-travelers that the judiciary would always come to conclusions, drawing from matters of the law placed before it, and not sentiments or so-called “pulse of the nation.” “Therefore, in vain does anybody labour to devalue the government and its military, thinking it would fall into a grand plan to get into office through artifice. The campaigns and elections for 2019 are long over. The country has moved on. And those who know it actually know it.

He said Nigeria has moved forward since after the election. Lol. This guy is high. A government that it took 2 months since inauguration (5 months since the supposed election victory) to send ministerial list, and will take another 1 month for their inauguration even after the rubber stamp Senate did caricature screening for is talking about moving forward.

How forward have we moved since May 29? Well, apart from the increasing incessant security problems and the alleged secret burial of Nigerian soldiers.

So Mr Shina, tell your sitting president to get working.

How won't it fail when APC has all 3 arms of government in their back pocket?

They should just keep quiet and do their job.

What an unserious presidency...
Committee of clowns...
Atiku just like every Nigerian can make comments within the ambit of the law....the man only called for investigation...What is wrong with that?
Why is the presidency scared of Atiku's comments?

femi u are pathetic and only a fortunate belligerent... You see actually u are the one trying to scoop the minds of people by underscoring the importance of the word "pulse of the nation" well u are already carried away by the deception of not actually working but chunning out lies like mouth odor unbeknownst to you and ur co-travellers.. The country has developed an eractic "pulse " well doctors knows the implications of an eractic pulse...

But u might call it exaggerated diagnosis just like someone said killings and kidnappings were a hoax and mostly are figurative... Only for them to be seeking prayers for rescue now... U have a chance to avoid such fate by telling ur co-travellers that Nigeria actually has a "pulse" and Nigerians likewise..

Dear Presidency,

Please face the task of presiding and stop acting like the opposition party! Rather than face the task of governance, you focus all your energies on propaganda and attacks on critics and denials!

You cannot form a cabinet months after election; the economy is in auto-pilot mode. Makes me wonder why we even need ministers in the first place if without them we are functioning. Makes me wonder why we even need a government.

You have defeated Boko haram; yet they still murder our troops and citizens, well done!! You have taken 5 million out of 98 million out of poverty, brilliant. You have reduced corruption, super!! You have reduced our appetite for imported goods, lovely!! You have formed the best cabinet in the history of Nigeria comprising of the men and women of highest integrity, fantastic!!!

Please face your final 3 years and go. Thank you

We all know that Alhaji Atiku the crook won the feb.23th presidential elections but due to the value the current administration attached to the power of incumbency, remote control strategy was used to rigged the election in their favor.

The court can't give Atiku mandate because someone is paying them heavily to keep their jobs and Atiku making that rhetorical assertion, he can't do more than that.

The situation is not a laughable one as the APC thieves claims. They should know that power must change hands sooner than when we expect as the great Lord who is the sole deserver of all powers has the final say on Nigeria and their scrupulous so called leaders.

What is Gambit or Gambia in the whole thing now? Atiku and his party said they are not happy with the result of the presidential election you apc told them to head to court they had done as you said so what the hell of the fuss now?

Wait till the judgement is being deliver if even Atiku and pdp lost at the end it's democracy and that is the beauty of it by challenging presidential election to the apex court I guess that is the first in Nigeria history if I'm right.

So Mr apc keep your grammar for now.
