Many Nigerian companies/engineers will deliver that project. Winners chapel, Ota and even covenant university were built 100% by Nigerians.
Dangote is just like other Nigerian business men looking for cheap labour and love to enslave their own people.

thebosstrevor:
No indigenous companies can carry out that project..this is nigeria for you

we are not a high tech manufacturing country so no skills for that, our universities chunck out theoretical masters

those are building projects and funny enough not all nigerian contruction companies have the technical skills to build that church

there is a reason why only julius berger a german company wins all contruction contract in nigeria, it is because we dont have the technical skills and the machines

also building a refinery is different from building convenant universities or winner chapel, those buildings are not master piece, in china or developed world a high rising residential buiding can be built in 1 month.

building refinery is a highly technical stuff that needs lot of high skilled experts to do, most of the time you gonna be fixing heavy equipment, to burst your bubbles, heavy equipment cranes operators are rare in Nigeria and these is just a part of the skills you will need, so where are you gonna get them if we dont have in nigeria, then cheaper places like china and india

even heavy duty truck drivers for driving large trucks for moving refinery parts are also rare in nigeria, where do we have to get them again, from abroad.

as long as people choose to go to universities and nobody want to learn the skilled technical part of anything, we will continue to have foreign companies using nigerian engineering graduates as unskilled slave labourers.

Too many pple typing what they dont kno about. Ofcourse maybe ur analysis is right but as as far as thus refinery is concerned, Nigerians handle 90% of the work but then under supervision of their cruel and insensitive chinese bosses.
I.e recently like 500 iron benders were sacked from the company where i worked...while these were the guys that started the work fron the scratch, did the settin out and the executed the BBS of the foundation. But now that the work is easier, they were demobilized and they brought their indian lookin tortoise to complete the rest.

You are very correct. Presently we don't have good welders in Nigeria. Those guys can't fabricate anything technical, only gates and of course generator or dog cages.

You are just being emotional. This is logical. There is no well managed refinery in Nigeria, it will be stupid of Dangote to contract the construction of his refinery to a local. In fact, which past projects would they hve included in their proposal?? I am sure they wouldn't bid for the project.

First i am kinda lazy tonight but in as much as i would want to pour out my heart out, but then i will just let pictures speak for themselevs.
Dangote refinery is an ongoing project sw in lagos state. Its rumoured to last for 10yrs but then media and politicians will tell you they re to start operation by thus yr. Lol cus 80% of the construction is still at foundation(piling) stage.

Now Bleep all that, what i want to talk about is the welfare structure of the general project.
1. Indians are the major controller of the project but then some china companies are handling some parts of it.

2. I will be speaking more on about the indian companies cus they re d ones i work with and then again you wouldnt dare to go work with a chinese company.
Chinese companies work mondays to sundays, but indians leave out sundays as a free day. And again chinese do not need your CV, you just have to be ready to work and u re good to go if u can survive it.

The pictures below will show you how Nigerians re being treated vs how indians are being treated.
Get this on TWITTER and INSTABLOG 9JA.

Your situation will change.

Nigerians can’t live and work like slaves in their country.

Dangote will turn a blind eye to this.

Also, when it's time to give official positions provided he is alive if the refinery begins full operation, Nigerians will work as secretaries, cleaners, gatemen while the so-called ''expatriates" will handle the administrative posts.

Nigerians will be sacked at will despite meagre salaries while the red people will be paid heavily
Your post is so 1980s

I think the issue is not whether they contract the job to foreigners. Its the disregard with which they treat the Nigerian labourers. Contracts should spell out salient requirements like these. These things don’t happen in the West

Name 3 indigenous companies that can handle this project without expatriate assistance.

I even saw an Indian YouTuber analysing project management in dangote cement as a project topic.
They are the ones working there. They know the ins and outs more than Nigerians.

The FG pumps billions of cheap forex to this monopolist in the hope of fighting unemployment, and he turns around and employs Indians and Chinese.

no wahala.
We would get a good government one day.
The "monopolist" is the government.

Nigerians handle the low skilled part, screwing equipment, iron bending and wielding under the supervision of foreigners that have the technical knowout.

most of the foreigners working there have one high skilled knowout that the 90% of nigerians labourer do not have, the foreigners are in charge of conception, the part to import, telling the nigerians how to fix, arrange and place and also screw up parts together to build a complete refinery..in all seriousness, how many nigerian company can build a refinary even the modular refinery in Nigeria, it is foreigners setting them up.

No fall for this victim hood nonsense, leave this project to Nigerians and embezzlement everywhere. Chinese are really hardworking set of people, I swear here in China this guys working in a construction site at 2am even. Notice what the guy said? They don’t need your cv, just show up to work. That’s how it should be, this was how the Chinese built their country, bruh you gotta put in the work. Reason for this is because the Chinese majority don’t believe in God or Hell. They rather believe in Money. So no I don’t blame dangote for putting Indians and Chinese in charge, because it hard to hear buh this are people who would put in the work for you. If it’s naija before you are employed you must know someone and all that nonsense, buh is not the case here. If e pain you, hustle and give your own construction of this magnitude to Nigeria and come back tell us how that went

Treating the Nigerian workers right in their own country I believe is what the Op is advocating. I don't care if the contractor is foreign or local but at least treat the local workers right.
@gaspardd , how about the engineers Dangote sent to India for some months training, hope they are not also treated like the artisans?

Exactly. The op posted pictures of two different staff bus scenario and people are still bashing him. It's bad being an average Nigerian, you migrate out of the country, you are not treated right. In your own country, these Asians won't still treat you right. cry

The Nigerian welders did the grunt work. The Indians are perhaps doing the brain work.

By the way, Nigerian engineers are highly sought abroad for this project. Those hired get paid in dollars.

Nigeria and Nigerians just need to change our educational curriculums.
Emphasis must be put on technical education than any other areas.
We believed too much in been educated and works in the office rather than works in the fields as technologists.
If you go to where a good technically minded Nigerians works alongside the so called expertriate ,they the foreigners always respect our geniuity .
But emphasis is too much on going to university and study some irrelevant courses.
There after, our half baked graduates will go around searching for unavailable jobs while technical schools products from foreign lands are here working as super experts and earning jumbo pays value in dollars.
Technical schools must be promoted before we can rescue our people out of this being a slaves to these braggadocio Indians and Chinese.
