is it not halarious, you say nigerian engineers are needed abroad...so how do they need us abroad when we dont even have the skills they need

yes for casual labourers we are needed in dubai but for top engineering jobs..hell no, list 5 top architectural firms in Nigeria that are purely Nigerian owned

I think you need to go back and reread that I wrote instead of asking me to do your research fpr you!

"Nigerian engineers are highly sought abroad for this project."

We are sought in Nigeria to work abroad too. It is those who are useless and have no skills to sell or don't know how to sell them that end up labouring in Dubai!

There's no basis for argument. Nigeria has got highly-skilled engineers, world class even, but all those who fall within this category are trained abroad. 100% home trained Nigerian engineers have no skills. Hence, are only suitable for unskilled jobs. In addition to being an accountant and a business administrator, I am also an engineer (electrical), but I must say the truth. Ask yourself this, how can one be skilled at something he has never seen? That's the plight of the Nigerian engineer, not that we are dull.

If we don't have all the machineries to complete that project, Nigerian companies can collaborate with foreign companies to get it done.
I've seen business men like Dangote in the industry, just like most Nigerian govt, will rather use foreign firms even if there are Nigerians who can do it. It make them feel they're better than everyone else.

One of my former boss imported white guys from Ukraine. When their salaries became a burden to him, he engaged some of us and we performed excellently. We ended up taking the jobs of those guys and they had to leave.

those are building projects and funny enough not all nigerian contruction companies have the technical skills to build that church

there is a reason why only julius berger a german company wins all contruction contract in nigeria, it is because we dont have the technical skills and the machines

also building a refinery is different from building convenant universities or winner chapel, those buildings are not master piece, in china or developed world a high rising residential buiding can be built in 1 month.

building refinery is a highly technical stuff that needs lot of high skilled experts to do, most of the time you gonna be fixing heavy equipment, to burst your bubbles, heavy equipment cranes operators are rare in Nigeria and these is just a part of the skills you will need, so where are you gonna get them if we dont have in nigeria, then cheaper places like china and india

even heavy duty truck drivers for driving large trucks for moving refinery parts are also rare in nigeria, where do we have to get them again, from abroad.

as long as people choose to go to universities and nobody want to learn the skilled technical part of anything, we will continue to have foreign companies using nigerian engineering graduates as unskilled slave labourers.

so what welfare do workers want?

Air conditioned cars and 5 star hotel treatment i guess.

Even in dubai, they pack workers like sandine, have you seen where workers live in dubai, you will go insane.

There is nothing that can be done.

There are Nigerian trained engineers who are proving to be first class. It's like in school where some are first and some are promoted on trial.

Perhaps find the successful ones and learn their trick. I assure you that we are out there.

You are very correct. Presently we don't have good welders in Nigeria. Those guys can't fabricate anything technical, only gates and of course generator or dog cages.
Good welders don't look for jobs. They have been taken. Only mediocre welders walk around saying no jobs.

There are smart ones, no doubt.

Some of the latest technology, they have not seen with their eyes, let alone touch.

Only a wizards will be an expert at something he has not seen.

Guy, I'm talking about advanced technology here.

I don't know where or how you got the idea that Nigerians cannot handle technical stuff. If we don't know Seun, some of you would have said nairaland wasn't designed by a Nigerian.

Inspiration comes from God irrespective of the colour of your skin.
The mind is the most vital part of the human person because all the heavens and hell, slavery and freedom, wealth and poverty, success and failures, knowledge and ignorance are within the power of your mind. Set your mind free and you'll be free.

The Spirit of God is the catalyst that stimulate your mind and open you up to great ideas.

all these talk na just talk, at that end of the day, if you dont have the skills, no inspiration from god can help you do anything

na inspiration from god dey build refineries?

set yourself free from motivational books and start getting the best education money can buy

Okay. I've heard you.

It's exactly the response I was expecting. When Nigerians do it, you'd say it's no big deal.

We're doing it and many Nigerians are doing it. One day, you'll hear me quote this conversation.

Agreed, even if some of us do call US out for some actions, US is by far one of the best in the world, far better than China and Russia.

No US company will treat workers like slave, the Chinese don't care, it's all about them, very selfish and greedy beings, have you seen them helping any nation out? the whole world can burn to ashes, provided it doesn't affect them, they won't bother.

The one that is even paining me are those workers from India and Lebanon, gosh, people that are still battling with poverty be forming king in our own land, some are even assaulting those under them.
Wetin bring Russia inside this matter now.
