The reality is you're dependent on commodities - mining, oil and cocoa - if any of those go down - your economy goes down. The real test of a diversified economy - is no single sector brings down an economy. Nigeria obviously the worst case because if oil drops to 10 dollars today - that country will be wiped off the face of earth. Ghana has had similar issues before - because if gold or bauxite or cocoa goes down - their economy also go bankrupt.

Now look at Kenya - even in agriculture - we are talking about 100 plus products that we exports. In manufacturing - we are exporting so many products - in service sectors - we have very advanced and mature sector - ict, retail, hotel, aiports, tourism,real estates, education, media.

That is why Kenya with very little if any minerals is able to grow at 6% comfortably year in year out - crisis or no crisis.
