A Nigerian lady Uchechukwu Ogugua, got quite thankful as she shared CCTV footages of her househelp Agatha, assaulting her 2-year-old son left in her care.

According to the lady, she thought her son's teacher was inflicting the injuries on him but the CCTV footage uncovered who was behind the act. Accusing the 14-year-old househelp identified as Agatha Joshua of feeding her son with faeces, flogging him mercilessly and also sleeping with the driver and security man, the lady stated that she never maltreated or flogged her to get such in return.

It’s general practice to have ‘maids and servants’ in many Nigerian homes. It’s a bad culture and most of the crimes against this group of people are under reported. Having underaged kids as maids and servants is evil.

Can you send out your teenage child to live with a family that you didn’t know? Would you allow a middle man to send out your kids to other families to live as maids?

There should be a law regulating this sort of business and it must be strict.
People who do nanny work must be adults and well trained in supporting children and they should be held accountable for their actions.

She was busying herself claiming big woman at work while the little boy is eating shit at home. If the boy had died, God will also hold her and her husband responsible as well. You have only two children and you parents can't cater for them without involving a stranger?

Time to dust up Child labor laws and read them. Even in the US...as an example of a developed world that you cited....if you are babysitting or performing minor chores around a private home, you are not covered under child labor laws.

Nanny is one of the means through which Teenagers in the US earn money during summer breaks....Also, if you visit parks, malls, Restaurants, supermarkets, fast food joints, etc now in the US that, it is summer break; chances are you will see a 13, 14, 15 or 16 year old kid working to either save for college or get some pocket money.

Child labor laws in the US mainly states you can’t employ teenagers under 14 years old in Agriculture and then staggered the industries they can be allowed to work in as they grow older until 18..., what I quoted above is the federal standard law, though it varies from state to state, but most states micmic the federal standard...and babysitters and household helps are exempted from these laws.

Child labor laws are mainly geared to regulate business enterprise and not private homes or family businesses, etc....A 12 yrs old can help his Dad in his lawn mowing business or mom selling wares, etc and it is not considered child labor.

You will only get into trouble if e.g. the living-in nanny is mis-treated, or if you didn’t send them to school, etc....and this is obvious because, you will also get into trouble if you mis-treat your own kids or if you didn’t send them to school.

I see people blaming women for needing househelps in the home. These same women who work and bring money to the table for their families. As in this case, she wasn't a housewife.
You have refused to see the elephant in the room where men are no longer adequate providers for their families.
This is a wake up call to all men to double their hustle. Even if it means you break your back to provide ADEQUATELY for your wives and children.
Make the home comfortable for your wife and children, so that your wife will not have to start hustling in order to meet her needs and that of your children. Any hustle she does will take her out of the home away from the kids unless of course you open a business for her and she is her own boss. Imagine if this woman's husband had opened a pharmacy for her where she could employ sales girls and qualified pharmacists and she just comes in to supervise. Nothing stops her from bringing her son to work with her when she goes out in the morning.
You will see heavily pregnant women still running around offices and market places selling their wares and working hard. These same women have other children at home o. Yet, they have husbands.
Please, all this stupid blame game on women not needing help should stop (especially working women), and the men shouting that also need to pull up their pants and start providing.
Btw, I dont support using underage maids as help. If its gari your father can afford, you guys should drink the gari with joy in your house.
