Digital Transformation Leader, Globacom, has topped gainers' chart in the latest statistics of Internet subscribers released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for the month of June.

Indeed, June was a difficult month for the industry generally, as the total number of internet subscribers dropped by a whopping 332,338 from 122,624,417 in May to 122,292,079 in June.

The bulwark against complete free fall came from Globacom and Airtel who recorded subscriber gains, while the other operators recorded a loss.

Globacom gained a total of 196,816, moving from 28,825,533 data subscribers in May to 29,022,349 in June. Airtel gained a total of 42,510 subscribers in the corresponding period.

On the other hand, MTN lost 178,103 subscribers, dropping from 52,433,020 in May to 52,254,917 in June. Nigeria’s fourth largest telecommunications operator, 9Mobile lost 310,924 data subscribers, dropping from 9,350,477 in May to 9, 039,553 in June.

Globacom has proven to be the favourite of internet subscribers over the years on account of its customer-friendly data packages and fast internet connectivity. The operator became the first network in Nigeria to launch nationwide 4G in 2016. With the launch of the service, millions of subscribers on the Glo network have been able to enjoy instant, efficient broadband internet connectivity.

Truth remains that Glo is the pioneer of cheap and affordable data infact there was a time in 2017 they began with 1000 for 3.2gb later 1000 for 4gb, 2500 for 10gb and presently Oga sim 1000 gives 3.6gb plus 1.2gb on yakata bonus making it 4.6gb for 1000 from the above statistics they are the best and recently Glo improved in fast internet connectivity unlike before when it's the snail network, second is airtel, mtn and 9mobile will frustrate you

I use Glo and it works for me perfectly. I'm always amazed when people complain about Glo internet services. I've been using it since 2005.

Not surprised, glo can kill u wit bonus, both voice and data,even if e expire, de go roll am ova 4 u

MTN is a fraud and a fraustrator, could you believe that i bought 2gb for #1200 and it varnished immediately i opened my data connection.....I've not used glo before infact i don't know what it looks like having a glo sim, but i'm having a second taught about it.

I have marked them as the best in pricing and 2nd best in quality of their Internet services based on my experience in at least 5 Nigerian States.

That's also been my experience using Glo Internet. I find it strange how people cuss out Glo saying their network is crappy etc. The opposite has been my experience, wherever I am, on the Glo Network.

If I were to guess, I'll say the first 5 comments were from glo staffs. Funny how they quickly jumped on the thread and occupied the first pages, I won't be surprised if all those monikers are owned by just two people.

My opinion: Fastest network = 9mobile,
Downside: they are very expensive
Upside: their 400mb has the same value and will download more movies than Glo's 10gig

Airtel: Upside: They are colourful, and give enough talk time
Downside: They take the data back before you even use it to browse. You'll subscribe for 2gig, and after using just 200mb, they'll inform you your data is finished.

MTN: Upside: They pay tax to the Nigerian government
Downside: Everything...
They are the only network that'll be dragging talk time with you as if you offended them before. Worse still is that borrowing credit from them, the way they'll take it back eh,
No matter how much data you subscribe to, it'll be a miracle if the data remains when you get to half of your subscription duration

Worse network ever both for call and browsing, so basically they weren't planning for you to use all the data and talk time they gave you.
Glo is the only network that ull still have 8gig after a 30days duration, on a subscription of 10gig per month
Once had a situation where I asked for exam venue in my class' whatsapp group, only for the message to come in AFTER THE EXAM, everyone in the group just knew I sent it on glo network.

If only they can work on their network and probably reduce the data, they'll be the best. I fact they've reduced the data bundle already, no more 10gig for 2.5k

As for MTN, I wish they just close down, or sell their Nigerian branch to 9mobile

Instead of Glo to actually improve their network, they hired paid posters.
