A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 9-year-old step daughter in Igwuruta, Rivers State.

His arrest came after a concerned lady raised an alarm on Facebook. According to activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who took up the case, the suspect claimed he started having sex with the girl because her mom was denying him sex.

It was also gathered that the wife later got to know about the act, but chose to cover it up in order to save her marriage. The matter has since been reported at the Igwuruta Divisional Police Station.
