Dreamswayne:You are right my brother. Our defensive woes are not due to CBs. It's a team problem compounded by team tactics and mentality. We need a new defense coach not a new CB. |

Spy360:I don't believe loyalty is the first and foremost. Wonder why wilshere wasn't a legend but henry is? Henry practically asked for a way out from arsenal yet he's still revered and appreciated (plus statue sef) wilshere carry arsenal for mind , soul and body, but he fell short of most of those criteria I listed. Will you call wilshere a legend, was he celebrated when he left? |

...... I can't believe that Arsenal is willing to sell Iwobi even for 40m It just doesn't make sense..... He is one of the only proper winger we have who can break defenses except if Coutinho will be his temporal replacement. I am not happy but it's all business which is why when one gets an opportunity he utilises it properly; Iwobi didn't and now he is being sold to the highest bidder. I feel for him especially when other players who didn't perform last season are still in the squad..... Anyway, It shows Raul is serious about selling players we don't need. Rooney is leaving DC United in January and reports are saying that they will discuss with Ozil's contacts this week. Obviously he won't move this window till January at least. Raul is not playing around though. .... Damn! what a summer |

AAA593:Be fingering my brain, don't raise my hope abeg,Emery reported to have rejected the news.. I was broken into pieces when I saw on sky yesterday Coutinho and Dybala are close to joining spurs.. He rather stays at barca or go outside England. Season never start, Summer alone is peppering us like this ![]() What a summer! |

sod09:We need him bro, I'm thinking about the future Suppose we get him, he is 25/26 yrs.. Coutinho, cebaloss, iwobi, pepe, lacazete,Nketiah,Nelson and Saka can lead our attack for next 6 years.. It means we are done with purchasing or spending fortune on attacking players over the next 5yrs. Their wages won't cost much, pepe is on 90,000, coutinho won't get more than 250,000, cebalos and iwobi will earn fairly and our teenagers won't give much prob.. Mhicky and ozil earn close to £500.000,and can't do it at this stage in England anymore. Countinho's style can make a difference in a game.. He can single handedly dribble his way in, curl the ball in, shoots with both foot from any distance and free kicks A match winner he is. City& Liverpool are example, despiye not signing any major attacker, they still have the best front in the league, they've done the business 2 years ago, we can do ours now. let's face the truth, ozil and mhicky can't do it for us, They'll have 7 great games, another 18 average games and go missing, injured for 7 games and goes hiding for another 7 games.. This can be evidenced from the past 2 seasons, they couldn't man the team to beat Atletico& Chelsea nor even the last 7 games in the league.. We had to rely on Auba/lava for goals, Laca conditioned his game as a 7,11,8/10 and 9..he does everything upfront.. Let's ask ourselves, suppose we have this scoreline at old Trafford Man Utd 2- 1Arsenal at 80th minute with utd packing the bus, who would you want behind your forwards among Coutinho,Mhicky,Iwobi and Ozil to save the day? As for the defence, with good tactics, strategies and support from midfield, top4 and a trophy is possible, Also we can strengthen them in the next windows. |

One topic that has not been discussed on this board is Emery's contract situation. This is a very important season for Emery because this coming season is his 2nd and with one more year left there have been no talks about a contract extension. I remember last season when I said, I will judge Emery this coming season when everything is on the line, I knew what I was talking about. Believe it or not, I believe Arsenal has shown through this summer's transfers that we have high aspirations and want to return to becoming competitive in the EPL again. If Emery gets a CB and does not finish top 4 this season, I will definitely question a contract extension and I know the hierarchy is thinking the same way. |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by solomonbrown64: 5:03pm On Aug 07, 2019 |
...... Tier 1 - David Luiz is among options Arsenal working on for centre-back - delicate but not for 1st time (see 31/01/18) #AFC keen. Kieran Tierney remains a target, Eddie Nketiah still deciding but likely Leeds, Alex Iwobi will happen IF Everton make suitable offer #EFC #LUFC #CFC #CelticFC .....This summer window is one interesting one.... David Luiz ![]() |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Roland17(m): 5:10pm On Aug 07, 2019 |
sod09:Upon further research, he was signed for 3 years, however, the 3rd-year option is retained by Arsenal. So that means if Arsenal picks up the 3rd year option he can be fired before or during the 3rd year and Arsenal don't have to compensate Emery. I think that is where the discrepancy about the duration comes from. So technically his contract is binding for 2 years and Arsenal makes a decision about a third which it retains. |

solomonbrown64:Is Luiz that bad? Isn't he better than all our current options?? Plus, he's a ball player and can give those long passes from deep... He is still energetic and athletic... He's a leader too... Sokratis, Luiz, Holding and Chambers is better rotation option once Mustafi is banished... Next season, we bring back Saliba and go big on Upamecano... Upamecano would never cost much next summer with one year left on his contract... |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by solomonbrown64: 5:50pm On Aug 07, 2019 |
Dreamswayne:..... I don't think he is actually better than our current options except for Mustafi. He has ball playing skills but should we sign him, Emery has to drum it into his skull that he has to be disciplined and remain as a center back and not another midfielder. ... We have a leader already in Sokratis so I don't think we are getting him for that. Koscienly is gone so someone must replace him for this season. .... Upamecano's release clause is around 90m and will decrease by 10m next summer. His club is a very difficult one to negotiate with so I personally don't see this signing happening except we if we cough out the cash. ... I am not excited for Luiz but him and Tierney won't be a bad ending to the window. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by solomonbrown64: 5:54pm On Aug 07, 2019 |
Fkhalifa:..... Luiz can be very erratic sometimes... I mean did you watch the Tottenham match last season where he was completely destroyed by Son. He has his off moments too but most of the time, he is decent. ... It's a stop gap solution but a much needed one. Even Emery has given up on Mustafi after that Barcelona friendly. |

solomonbrown64:Luiz floors Chambers and Mustafi... We don't know how Holding will return, whether in a good way or bad way... Sokratis is too rash for my liking and hardly a ball player... Luiz is a better fit for him and a much preferred option than Rugani who juve want us to loan with obligation to buy... He has cut down on his mistakes too... |
