Not true. Most are employed or run their businesses. I know pastors who are permanent staff of ExxonMobil and Co. It's a personal decision and not borne out of unemployment. The camaraderie by members won't have such an individual (ordained pastors) to be unemployed in the first place.

And what does that tell u? Their appointment is not based on the bible. 1 Timothy 3:1- spells out the qualities of one who oversees other in the congregation:
"This statement is trustworthy: If a man is reaching out to be an overseer, he is desirous of a fine work. 2 The overseer should therefore be irreprehensible, a husband of one wife, moderate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent, but reasonable, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money, 4 a man presiding over his own household in a fine manner, having his children in subjection with all seriousness 5 (for if any man does not know how to preside over his own household, how will he care for the congregation of God?), 6 not a newly converted man, for fear that he might get puffed up with pride and fall into the judgment passed on the Devil. 7 Moreover, he should also have a fine testimony from outsiders so that he does not fall into reproach and a snare of the Devil".

Wow didn't that verse is in the bible. Baffles one tho... I've seen some exhibit some kind of behavior that'll make you wonder

I believe in science, I believe in evolution. I believe in Nate Silver and Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Christopher Hitchens. I cannot believe in a supreme being who weighs in on the number of priests ordained or the number of churches or mosques without any significant result to show for it in the country. I don't believe a billion Indians are going to hell. I don't believe we get cancers to learn life lessons and that young people die early cos God needs angels. I think it's bullshiit and on some level that we all know that. I understand religion makes it easier to deal with the random things in life we can't yet explain, or the random shitty things that happen to us. And I wish I could get on that ride, I'm sure I would be happier. But I can't, so can't other rational people. Feelings aren't enough, I need it to be real.

When we begin to look at personalities, rather than the bible, we easily become misled. No matter how big a supposed "man of God" is, that is not the test of him being good or righteous. The bible remains the true test of righteousness and not the size of a man of God's church

Good development

It is good to ordain/ commission people to work in the house of God. However, my reservation is 12,000+ Last year was 11,000+.

Anyways, from what I know, vocation call is not just knowing the bible inside and out nor learning how to preach and pray. It is way more than that.

Within two years, we have over 23,000 persons ordained in one church?. Some churches doesn't even have that number as the entire strength of the church.

Speaking from an Orthodox Church in Nigeria, I am sure they don't have up to 5,000 ordained priests/deacons in a calendar year even with its enormous strength. That goes to show the thorough training and scrutiny before one is worthy of ordination.

The point is, ordained pastors/priests/deacons(ness) represent the church. It is important to conduct adequate background checks and trainings among other salient requirements. Else, the reputation of the church is in the line of fire.
