What Is The Benefit Of Being A Citizen Of Nigeria? by Nobody: 1:04pm On Aug 10, 2019 |
I lived in Nigeria for a total of 15 years and I never received a single benefit from the government. For most young Nigerians the highlight of their lives will be finding an escape route to get out of the country like I was able to As a Nigerian you are your own government. You provide your own water, electricity, security, education, healthcare and shelter. You even contribute money to tar and fix the road in your neighbourhood! Yet for some reason, the citizens who suffer from Stockholm syndrome still praise and worship their oppressors. The country is only structured to cater for the fantastically corrupt politicians who have turned the country to the poverty capital of the world and a massive shithole. 5 Likes 1 Share

As a Southerner, you are most likely not to benefit anything from the FG. Except for NYSC allowance, FG contributed NOTHING to my life. However, the story is different for the average Northerners. 80% of them live off the FG. They work in Federal ministries and parastatals while Southerners struggle for private sector jobs or self employment. Except you decide to join the armed forces or Police, Southerners are greatly disadvantaged by the Federal Character principle. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

Sense full this your post But the question now is what will you do about it? No solution no way forward no remedies, nothing Just the typical problem identification and arms crossing blame game. 4 Likes 1 Share |

ChiefkeefGB4: Good suggestion. I do not know about other countries. But in Canada, a child is psid Child Care Benefit until he or she is 18. Again education up to high school completely free with free school bus. As a responsible parent you have the option to pay this CCB money in the child's RESP. That is funding targetted towards the child university education. The beautiful thing is that any amount you pay into the RESP, Canadian government contributes 25% to it. So for example if you pay $1000 into the RESP, government adds $250 making the fund $1250. Then again university students get grants that sometimes covers their fees and are given students loans. My country is only good for corrupt politicians. The country needs restructuring and a total overhaul. I am just restraint in not calling it revolution. I am from Delta State Oil is drilled from my state to fund FG, yet we do not get anything in return. No good roads, no infrastructure, not even opportunity for good education. Nigeria is a disgrace to mankind. Please if you can take your children out of the poo called Nigeria. 6 Likes 3 Shares |

The solution is Confederation of 4 regions or Split up into 4 countries. Either one of these two options, and according to the map attached.

michelz:Do you pay tax? My last PAYE while working in Nigeria was averaging N1.25m a momth not including VAT on purchase. Do you know that even at that to get a TTC from LASG was hellish. Alpha Beta gives you a different number. That is a story for another day. What other contributions do you want me to make for my country? A country that the politicians have turned the reasoning of its youthful population to belie5that poverty and suffering is their birth right. 1 Like 1 Share |

ChiefkeefGB4:I have since relocated. My children are awaiting their citizenship swearing in ceremony. I am the only one still having Nigerian hope. Hoping that my country will one day rise up from the ashes. But everyday you realise that Nigeria was never meant to be a nation. Insecurity, live is just a bullet or a kidnapper away. No electricity, fraudulentl elections, poverty is celebrated, politicians are wrecking the country and sending their children abroad for studies, etc. Nigeria is just a hopeless place at least for now. This APC is the worst thing to befall this country. |

michelz: Quote wrongly placed here ( # context) Try your possible best to situate this say "Ask not... do for your country" into its historical context. When you do, you will realize that America(US) has done great to the Americans and now Americans are doing same back to their dear country so to make their country even greater. Their target is to make it the greatest country ever exist |

Lovelive:Nah! When J.F. Kennedy made that statement, America was basically like every other average country in the world. The leaders you blame for all the wrong things in Nigeria are not aliens; they are human beings and Nigerians just like you and I. What that statement means is that all hands must be on deck to make a country work; be it politician, public servant, private individuals, etc. If Nigeria is not working, don't just blame only the leaders. The leaders are products of the bad system. 1 Like 1 Share |
