My problem with Nigerian vets is that, they don't have the resources to conduct tests in dogs. When you notice some symptoms on your dog on you take it to the vet, they will not draw it's blood and conduct a test to know what is really the problem, they will just look at it and say this is what is wrong, that is what is wrong, in the end of the day, after spending all that money administering the wrong medication, the dog will just end up dying so all that money spent becomes for nothing.

In saner climes, Vets treat animals like human beings admitted in a hospital, but in our darling country.....hmmm!

When the main medical Doctors don't even have the resources and passion to save lives.
The ones in the government hospitals will rather refer you to their private clinics, just for them to milk you dry!

Slow and steady we will get to a New and better Nigeria.
The foundation has been destroyed!

Basically, I think dog diseases are not that many. Plus, we have almost same or similar breeds of dogs in Nigeria.

Their judgement or conclusion is based on their experience with past treatments. They need not run any test, they are familiar with the illness.

Just my addition though, not in anyway supporting their act.

Isn't that how are hospitals just administer Malarial drugs after you complain of fever? It's always a Malarial parasite facial diagnosis from em. If you don't recover then they can suggest you go for tests based on symptoms.

Nevertheless, if you are in Ibadan you can try the Veterinary Hospital at the University of Ibadan, they run blood tests for animals if they deem it fit.

Even that one Im sure it doesnt take much skill to do the job. That plus the fact that the oyinbos guard their interests jealously. If not can you compare the work ethics of workers in shell to NNPC staff. Compare the quarters sef. NNPC qtrs (Kaduna) is a shithole

That's if you take your dog to roadside dog breeders turn vet(quacks). I took my pops to the vet clinic of Unilorin Veterinary clinic and I was amazed. I felt like a father cheesy. They took necessary tests and even opened card for my dog(That was after like 20mins of questioning) They did tests and x-rays . The dog later died after spending much, but I was glad I did all I could to save the Lil pups life. I'm sure he's smiling down from heaven with a smile.

Are you sure it doesn't take much skill? I think you are mistaken but I won't begin to speak on that.
When I say oilfield, I'm not talking NNPC. Those ones are a financial sinkhole and money launderers. I'm talking private sector. And trust me, we have competent professionals in Local Oil (Servicing) Companies.
