Good evening fellow nairalanders, i am considering changing my corolla 2004 engine, as the current one tends to give me issues too often these days.
A mechanic advised that the engine can be worked with about 70k and it will back to almost perfect, but i have my doubts regards that.
Please, i want to know how much same engine go for, so i can get my self together and make a decision.
Those with price ideas should please assist.

250k for complete engine and 150k for borale.

The engine is old and have been worked on severally. Currently, it work well but produces a very loud noise. When in motion and in gear 1, when you throttle down, it produces this knocking sound, but that sound goes away when the gear shift to the next.
Also, recently, it shorts oil a lot, as i have to top up with a 1 liter oil every 2 weeks. It smokes too, when you throttle.

Oh dear. Rebuilding it may cost more than getting a replacement. The technical expertise may be lacking too.

Advice you just replace since alot of work has been done and no positive result. Input your query in Gazzuzz thread he can help you find the exact match cause that year Corolla had around 6 plus petrol engine. You can pay him to replace or just buy a direct toks from him with warranty.
