TochiPhotos: Chai. My people, it's been a long time.
I honestly do not know where to start from. A lot has happened in the last 1 year and I can't wait to share every detail with you guys.
I moved from Moscow to Saint Petersburg and I've been living in Saint petersburg for over a year now. (Same University)
I still don't know where to start from but one thing is sure, I'm really excited to be back and I can't wait to pick up from where I left.
I just hope I haven't lost my loyal readers. Biko abeg make una come back o. I don retun.
I'll keep this comeback post brief.
Last Semester, my university held its annual Culture fest and I was invited to represent Nigeria at the HSE Culture day 2019. I prepared jollof rice and at the end of the culture fest, my jollof rice was adjudged the best food at the fest. It was really exciting to know that many people were genuinely interested in learning about Nigeria's culture, food and way of life. I'll post pics from the event below. Also with me are my friends Florence and her Jr Sister Grace. They both go to my university and they are really wonderful people.
Words alone are not enough to describe how amazing Florence and her Sister are. I remember last winter, I caught a cold, I couldn't breathe properly and I honestly thought I won't make it through the night. But Florence and her Sis sat by my bed all night, with aboniki balm and prayed fervently for me till I fell asleep and when I woke up in the morning, I was better. They're super amazing and you guys will see more of them soon.

I know this might not be the place to ask these questions, but other groups have been silent for a while now. Please, I will appreciate your kind assistance on these questions.
Good day house. I am about to apply for my visa and I need some advice on putting my documents together. firstly, I will like to know if the embassy has a specific insurance company they recommend or any insurance company can be used. secondly, I also want to know if the general hospital is ok for HIV certificate or they have a recommendation for that too. furthermore, should sponsor letter be printed on a letterhead or a plain sheet is ok for that? and I will also appreciate any interview questions they might ask so as to be able to prepare for them. Your quick response would be appreciated as I will be submitting my application of Visa this week.
One more thing, How much do you think is ok to have in the sponsor's Statement of account. Thank you.

I used IGI when I did mine and it was the one recommended by the embassy staff but I assume other insurance companies will work too.
The general hospital in Abuja should be fine but when I did mine, it was at Ave Maria hospital in V.I. That's the embassy's partner hospital. There is a Russian Doctor there and he has to sign and stamp the result but I heard they now accept from general hospital Abuja.
Sponsor letter should be on company letterhead.
Please find the thread dedicated for students to ask questions regarding admissions and visa application procedure etc
My people, since I no longer live in Moscow, I have created a dedicated thread to document my life as a foreign student in Saint Petersburg, Russia. So please follow the thread instead cos that's where I will post all new updates https://www.nairaland.com/5366565/diary-nigeria-student-living-saint
thank you for the information. other threads her not active that's why I had to bring it here. but the sponsor account is individual account not a company account, will it still have to be on a letterhead?

Software engineering and I’m doing an intensive Russian Language program. You can’t really do anything here if you can’t speak Russian Language so most schools offer intensive language programs first. Even if your course is in English, you still need to learn the language if you want to survive here.
hello, how much can school fees for medical school be?
gypsey: who da hell goes to Russia to study? you say there is no racism in Russia? try walking hand in hand with a russian girl in the streets of rural russia, good luck! if you make it Alive.
please Someone should advise me Am planning of coming to Russia through language program then I’ll start my masters immediately after finishing, now the problem is that I saw that you have to come back to ur country immediately after ur language course then apply for normal admission from your country. Is it possible to apply for admission in a school in Russia without having to come back home after finishing the language school ?

Why don't you just start your masters directly instead of this this roundabout runs? In any case, check with the school to see if they are able to organise or help with the visa.
@toochi, kudos for d good job you are doing here . Please a school in St Petersburg recently announced the application for a tuition waiver scholarship. Kindly update on what the chances of small part time are like while learning the language. Thanks

Jorussia: Most of the medical universities require the services of an Agent. The universities have accredited admission agencies who recruit students for them.If applicants/prospective students send their documents/apply through the universities they will forward them to their accredited admission agencies, who would then contact the applicants/prospective students.Honestly, some of the agencies, especially those in Nigeria charge ridiculous amounts as their fees.I remember in 2014,i paid $200 to an agent in Lagos for admission letter that I later discovered was issued free of charge if your application has been accepted.By the grace of God,I will be in Moscow this November as a student of pirogov National research medical university.I will start paying my fees,in the next few days. The only accredited agency for Pirogov National research medical university for this year is edugain overseas.I have decided that i must leave for Moscow this year,i have wasted too many resources on invitation letters in the past without honouring them, due to my engagements here in Nigeria.I don pursue money too much, this year by the grace of God I must be in Moscow to study general Medicine.others can share their personal experiences.
TochiPhotos: Happy New Year everyone! May God grant all your heart desires this Year.
I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year celebration? Mine was pretty good.
On the morning of New Year's ever, I attended Holy Mass at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Moscow. It is one of the only 3 Catholic Churches here in Moscow. I met a few Nigerians and most importantly, I spent the day in the presence of the Almighty God. When I was living in Lagos, I wasn't really active in Church and I can count the number of times I went to Church in the last fewyears. But since I arrived in Moscow, I've decided to draw closer to God. I don't know if this just happens to me, but whenever I attend the Holy Mass. I feel so at peace and so fulfilled, like been in the presence of God makes me feel, I'm ready to tackle anything or handle anything life throws at me. I always feel a great sense of Peace and completeness, whenever I attend the Holy Mass.
About my New Year.
I had a minor quarrel with my gf on the 30th of Dec, she has been complaining I don't have time for her because I've been busy with the app, and website I'm building. I keep apologizing but on the 30th she visited my dorm and we had a heated argument because I told her that right now work and my school are my priority, I told her even though I love her, right now, the stuff I'm working on is more important to me than anything. She misunderstood what I said and we argued for over 30 mins. Which was basically me sitting in my bed while she ranted.
This was the first time we would engage in such a heated argument, I was calm all through but I was seriously considering breaking up because I really do not need any form of drama in my life right now. After 30 mins, I apologized, hugged her, and told her everything will be all right. I told her I understood how she felt, and I will try my best to make out more time for her. The bad thing I think I told her during the argument was that, she was been dramatic and she should start acting her age instead of acting like a silly over pampered baby. She told me those words really hurt her and I apologized again. And we settled our fight.
Dating a woman from another country and culture isn't as easy as it appears, it's true she does not ask me for anything and isn't materialistic. She just wants my time and attention, but I feel time and attention in itself is a price too.
On the 31st, she told me to come to her house by 11pm, I was in my dorm with no idea how to spend the new year because her parents were back and that means I can't sleep in her house till they travel again. I came to her house and she told me to come upstairs, I asked if her parents were around she said yes and I was like ‘wtf? I'm going home, I don't want your dad to shoot me.’ She told me not to worry that they want me to join them for New Year.
It was cold that night but I was sweating like Ewu Gambia, I didn't know what to expect and I just did sign of the cross and followed her upstairs.
Her father is 2 times my size, and he has really huge biceps and chest. I was so nervous when I met him. They invited me to the dinner table and we all started talking and waiting for 12:00 the parents told me they made this dinner specially for me and wanted me to not feel lonely since my family is thousands of miles away in Nigeria. Her parents are very wonderful and nice, I think the noticed I was nervous and tried there best to make me feel comfortable. We talked about life in Russia, Sports, weather, life in Nigeria, football, gym, music etc They gave me papers t write my new year wishes, and we all did and exactly 12:00 they burnt the paper and poured the ashes nside the wine and we all drank the wine and ashes. I think it's some Russian tradition. Then the parents kissed and of course me and B too lol .
We all went to the balcony to watch the fireworks and later B told me of a really nice bar she wants to take me to. We left their house around 2am and went to the bar/club and danced and drank into the New Year. I only drink occasionally and that night was the first time I got drunk in a very long time.
We danced and danced, I gave them a mixture of Atilogwu, Ogene, shoki, shaku shaku, alanta, azonto etc lmao everyone was just watching and clapping as I was dancing on the floor. I even had a dance off at some point with one Russian guy. The whole bar circled and was clapping for us as we had a dance off lol
We met another couple in the bar, a Russian guy and his gf, and we danced together and all. I was bonding with the guy while my gf and his gf were getting along too. The couple invited us to a Sauna and indoor pool place. The guy paid and told us to order anything we want. When we got the Sauna place we all changed into the towels and the guy's gf literary shouted 'wow, look at your figure' in Russian of course lol. Lol I have small 6 pacs sha and I work out so that was why she said I have a nice body. My gf just jokingly told the girl 'He is mine' lol. we all joked and had a good time. Later the guy started asking me, how long I've been working out and if I can give him workout tips which I was of course happy to.
It was a magical night and it was the best new year of my life so far.
We left the sauna house around 9am all drunk and wasted and I took her home and handed her over to her mom then I went back to my dormitory.
It was a really memorable and unforgettable new year for me. I slept for like 7 hours and woke up to a text from my Ex gf in Nigeria telling me that my closest/best friend while I was in Naija, asked her out. 'He apparently said he wants to have a private time with her etc lol and she was reporting it to me
Shut the front door! Okay, don’t but tell me.... Mr Ruben? I am actually studying in Pirogov at the moment, which is the second best, if not the best at the moment in Medicine in Russia! It’s actually possible to apply yourself but the language would be a barrier. The agents are there just to minimize mistakes made by students. It would really be nice to see another Nigerian in my school though. The Ghanaians are dominating at the moment and I need someone to fight the Jollof Wars with. I’ll be waiting... Feel free to text or ask questions and get ready for the language and the cold!!! Winter is literally coming
