Schooling is not education. It's just a formal process. It's basically a scam these days because its purpose has expired with the internet taking over.

Read. Quit school if you have to. It adds no value to you as a person.

Every parent needs to tell their kids this every day. Your chances of getting educated are higher outside school than in school.

Books are everywhere. If you can read and write, you're very literate. In fact, you'll write books that PhD holders will read with delight.

Educate yourself. Do business. Acquire a skill. Build an empire. Join an empire. Evolve. You're a human being! The society doesn't define you. You define the society.

That's the fat....

One of the effects of allowing people who are not mentally ready for challenges gain admission into our universities. It's not enough to get the highest score in jamb and post jamb. There is definitely more to it.
foolish talk.so because he committed suicide that makes him mentally unprepared? foolish you, what test do we administer to test mental preparedness? people commit suicide at any age and at any level,it has nothing to do with mental capacity.

They say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I don't think suicide is the best solution. Even though, I know that depression kills silently. People condemning the boy's act doesn't know what depression is all about; but seek advice, talk to people, discuss it with them. If I had just 3 carryovers , I would have been a graduate by now. Life is easier in imagination than in reality

Just because he won't be eligible for teaching practice. Wetin him wan go teach the students before? I keep saying it, formal education is not meant for everybody. If you can't cope with the stress, go learn a skill or trade and stop wasting precious time in school
Suicide was the totally wrong option. Having 3 carryovers just means he would spend an extra year in school, to study and pass those courses, before being allowed to graduate. undecided

What were the course advisers in his school doing? They should just have educated him on the way out of the whole situation...

It is so sad, really. cry

Only people with small minds and low IQ, think that schooling is a scam. Without education and the knowledge acquired in a formal school, can you make sense of the books on the internet, or can you apply what you read online, to create an impact in the real world?

If the Mike Adenugas and Tony Elumelu's of this world, had abandoned school and discarded education, would they have been able to build the companies they now have on ground?

You just made my point clearer while thinking you were doing the opposite. An educated mind would have avoided that.

A final year student of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ogun State, has taken his own life.

According to his colleagues, Ogunbanwo Emmanuel allegedly hanged himself yesterday, because he had three carry overs and wouldn’t be eligible for Teaching Practice.

Try and read my previous comments again sir, with an open mind....I emphasised the fact that schooling is NOT a scam, contrary to what you believe. undecided

Even learning how to read and write, is often done within a school, most of the time. sad The proportion of those who become literate, and learn how to read and write outside a school setting in Nigeria, is very few....

Kindly check a dictionary for the correct meaning of the word "education," so that you can use it in the right context, next time.
Re: Ogunbanwo Emmanuel: TASUED Finalist Commits Suicide Over Carryovers by Nobody: 5:05am On Aug 21, 2019
You shouldn't have. (ignorance)
I strongly have ten (10) carry over out of thirteen(13) in my first semester ND1, infact struggle to succeed all through, with a pass. (ND @ large) After one and half years, having proceeded with my HND, I had no carry over all through, it was just fantastic.

Every challenge has it own "elasticity" period. Though I only read the headline, that's not enough to commit suicide.

Imagine having 70 as a least score in all courses...

With God and determination, all things are possible.
