They know not what’s happening with the soldier. They have to take him to the hospital ASAP to stop the bleeding and there’s tendency of him loosing that hand .

It's very possible there won't be permanent damage in that arm, if striated muscles were not completely severed, he can still regain full functionality with physical therapy and the skin can be grafted in place.
