Nigerians are very stupid people. How can a people be so docile and ineffective in the quest to save their own lives ?. The average Nigerian will never stand up to defend his right to protect his own life. He will gladly fall down and die than live to offend his tormentor or assailant. Until we mobilize ourselves to pick out and exterminate the roaches in our society, we will continue to experience insecurity and criminality on a grande scale. Every Nigerian knows one other Nigerian who lives lavishly on proceeds of crime but decides to shut up and mind his own business only to discover that he is not safe from that known criminal he chose to avoid rather than confront. Instead he waits for Jesus and Jehovah to save him when God gave him or her 2 hands and a brain to solve his or her puzzle. NA WA FOR NAIJA!

This happened in the afternoon around 2pm or so..it was like a war front according to a friend that witnessed it....he said they kept pumping bullet into the policemen chest and made sure they died before leaving ...nobody is safe in this country honestly

Armed police escort is a false sense of security. Many use them as status symbol. The only attack they may repel is street urchins. When ambushed, they are all sitting ducks. Criminals are becoming more daring in Nigeria and should call for serious concern. Most of the time, it seems the criminals are more armed and they outnumber the security details.

SARS cannot confront them. They are more interested in harassing and extorting unarmed civilians because it is the path of least resistance.

Gunmen on Monday abducted the Chief Medical Director of the Irrua Specialist Hospital, Edo State, Prof. Sylvanus Okogbenin, after killing two policemen attached to him.

The Medical Director was said to be travelling to Benin.

This is coming on the heel of a similar abduction of two Assistant Directors of the hospital last week and their subsequent release after payment of ransom.
Two other persons in the convoy whose identities were yet to be ascertained were shot in the leg.

An eyewitness said the gunmen abducted Prof. Okogbenin after killing the policemen.

The incident happened at Ramat Park Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area while the CMD was coming to Benin.

Police Spokesmen, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said an investigation into the incident has commenced.

Chairman of Senior Staff Association of Universities Teaching Hospital Research Institute and Associated Institutions of Nigeria, Irrua branch, Comrade Emmanuel Igiechi, said the union would protest against insecurity in the area.


Comrade Igiechi said the abduction showed that the workers at the hospital were being monitored.

“This tells us how serious the security situation has become. It is a very dire situation we are in. The security agencies should strengthen their presence in Irrua and environs,” Igiechi said
