It has been like that in federal since, I don't know why it was delayed till this time in Lagos state. This is just entry point for fresh university engineering graduates who have not yet become registered engineers. With this level registered engineers and registered doctors will start at the same level mathematically. Registered Doctor (at least before you are free to practice): 6yrs mbbs + 1yr (housmanship) + 1yr (NYSC) = 8yrs (before you can be employed by hospital). Note: Some might not get housemanship placement in one yr because of limited numbers of hospitals availability. So, for a fully registered doctor to be employed after NYSC, about 8-10yrs must have been spent, it means:
After 8-10yrs as registered doctor fully ready to practise at Federal, the person will start at level 12

For engineer, a fresh graduate in engineering is not yet an engineer, except he is certified by relevant bodies in engineering before he/she can be fully ready to be called engineer:
engineering (B engr ): 5yrs + 1yr = 6yr (fresh graduate not yet registered engineer, but can begin work if he likes at level 9 in public service), two yrs after (8yrs-when doctor is doing housemanship if he is lucky to get housemanship on time), engineer in federal service or state civil service already moved to level 10. At 9/10 yrs when doctor must have finished NYSC and qualified to work in any hospital as registered doctor (i.e federal), by this time, engineer already has 4yrs post-graduate experience and become registered engineer through coren(fresh registered engineer) who now starts at level 12 which is the same as that of doctor(registered). Engineer even gets better opportunity because many factors can cause medical doctor to be delayed than 8/9/10yrs and also, engineer has been collecting money even before becoming registered engineer while doctor was still paying money to school and other finances before becoming registered. Amount collected during 1yr housemanship can not be compared with what level 10 engineer has collected so far. So, people that structured salary scale know what they are doing, fresh registered doctor and fresh registered engineer in federal institutions are logically starting on the same level in public service, numbers of years play important role.

Most other university disciplines start on level 8, HND entry is 7/8, master holders start on level 9 in Lagos state

If coren has to be level 12, coren would have to raise its bar by requesting msc before applying. I'm sure at some point in the future, this will happen.

Who engineers' strike help? If they strike, then who cares?? RCC and Julius Berger do all the works in Nigeria. Your whole write-up is filled with lies and self-deceit while you were trying so hard to compare engineers' with doctors' pay. Trying to bring a doctor and an engineer to the same level in a public "after some years" like you claim is just funny and a fiction. Ridiculous.

I do not think msc is necessary. Professional programme is different from academic one. Nuc/coren can introduce professional master in engineering just as master of public health and msc in public health for heath workers.

I am with the FCS, with a B.Eng, entry level is GL 08/03. Advancement to GL 09 comes after two years. However if you are coming in with an M.Eng, you will be placed on GL 09. That's still what's obtainable now. What you were referring to in your first paragraph has not been implemented in my ministry. Therefore your assertion that what LASG is doing has been happening in the FCS is not totally correct.

NSE might have achieved that in their struggle since 2018, but you and I know that in Nigeria, it is one thing to have a policy or law..., It's another thing to commence implementation immediately. e. g. Minimum wage, Pension 8%/10% contributions, HND/BSc matter...

Secondly, yes, I have colleagues who are already registered with COREN at GL 09 and 10.

The news is very true and a circular from the office of the Head of Service of the Federation was passed to that effect. It was fiirst initiated by the FG and LASG is only following suit of the HCSF. I can tell u authoritatively cos I was affected.
If u are already employed in d public service under federal govt, and u have not gotten to Level 9 yet, u are entitled to an upgrade. It's ur right. The circular probably got to ur office and it's being hidden by haters. Write to the management and demand for ur right.

so just because you want to make medicine seem less desirable you had to lie about coren registered engineers starting at level 12? I don't see the need for the comparison. both are important in their own way. you won't see a medical doctor trying so hard to downgrade engineering. goes to show your level of self esteem as an engineer...

meanwhile to all the idiots who's priority it is to win arguments over who is better btw Ronaldo and Messi I hoped you watched the show and read the comments after. keep arguing while the two great men make money.

and finally to the fools who support one party or the other, whether apc or pdp hope your lives are improving and I hope you are seeing the sacrifices these politicians are making to improve your lot. bunch of idiot.s
