Help A Brother! Need A Legal Advice On Land Purchase by swimnigeria(m): 11:38am On Apr 20, 2017
Around November last year a friend told me about a half plot of land with a 3 bedroom uncompleted structure on it that that the owner wanted to sell it for 1.1m

We agreed and he the owner showed me the place. I payed part payment of 500k and promised to pay the Balance of 600k first week of February. I called the owner around first week as promised to come get the Balance, take me to landowners and handover the family receipt.

Till date he has refused to pick my calls and he kept on posting me here and there.

Pls i need advice what to do to claim ownership?

All observations will be appreciated.

How did you later resolve this? I'm kind of facing a similar situation now.

I was refunded bro after like 6 months. I engaged a lawyer and a petition was raised, his job was also threatened... these actions made him refund my money.

I realized that God wanted something Bigger for me.
These folks are everywhere bro. cool

Thanks brother. We've been warning people to carry lawyers along whenever it's time to buy any property but some think they're saving money by avoiding lawyers, whereas they pay more when they fall victim. Anyone affected may kindly contact me.

Thank you bro. I'm facing the same problem. The police are aware. He claimed ownership to a land that is not even his own, it belonged to his mother who is now late and he's not the only child. Now all the other children are against selling the land. Meanwhile he had stolen the land documents and showed me when we were bargaining.
He has spent my money, it's amazing how he managed to spend 750k part payment withing a few weeks.

Sorry bro, i feel your plight. To start with, did he give you the normal rethoric of "Don't build before you complete payment" ? If not, first thing was to have done something to secure the land. Did he give you copies of document documents of the man as this will serve as a proof you had dealings with him.

Thank your star that he didn't sold you another person's land it would have been difficult to get a refund. But now, just ask for a refund, use SARS if possible because the normal police will only milk and frustrate you.

Your best bet is to try all you can to get your money back cos when land issue becomes a tussle anything can happen.

Where do you reside?

Sorry bro.. cool

You won't face this kind of issue if you buy from a real estate firm and bring your lawyer with you to verify their estates.
