Rivers State Islamic Leader and Vice President General Rivers state Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Nasir Uhor in a radio programme on August 31 have debunked the claim that the river state government demolished a mosque in the state.

The Islamic leader in the radio programme enlightened that the whole world is a Mosque in Islam. He also admitted that there was no Mosque in the disputed land in Rainbow town in Port Harcourt.

“The insinuation that there is a 10-storey building is not true”, he said.

Noting that Rivers State is a Christian dominated state, Uhor maintained that the leadership of the Muslim community in Rivers state was not behind the spreading of the rumors about the disputed land in Rainbow town to spread or promote hatred, retelling that the Rivers State government under Rotimi Amaechi stopped work at the location on two occasions.

Though admitting that a State High Court ruled that the disputed land belongs to Rivers Government, the Muslim leader however revealed that one Late Chief Amadi who sold the land to them claimed that he inherited it.

He urged the state government to embrace dialogue.
