pocohantas:In those days, life expectancy is almost 95years because everything is pure and unadulterate(no fake product) and there is availability of good food, outdoor exercise, happiness, no much crime and coruption, no examination malpractice etc but what can be said of now, get-rich-early syndrome(benz) which results in our boys scattered all over the prisons of the world, no outdoor exercise as computer and machine has taken over everything, no more studying hard as all you need to do is put #5000 in envelope and present it to the lecturer, fake product everywhere which has greatly reduced life expectancy, no happiness in this present administration and coruption is on the increase on daily basis. in short, what will i say to leave the others. |

Ibadan people home and abroad, please, can people tell us also about social life in the city then compared to now. I mean the era of O Y O 2 (FM) , Kongi, Joyce B , Cocoa dome, etc and DJs like Olosesan Ekisola, Alex Condy , the annual Fela show at UI - Havana. My late father few years ago said Ibadan can never sweet like those days. |

pocohantas:They saw that this generation is nothing but indomie generation(junior food is ready) that's why they keep tormenting us, they don't want to resign from office and the youths in question resorts to nothing but e-tribalism, e-hatred, e-war etc. that is the development that civilation brought to us. In those days, a standard 6 student is equal to present day graduate, those born btw 1935-1970~1980 can attest to that. |

If the previous generation was that good, who raised the present generation? Meanwhile, almost everyone desires to relocate to countries who are planning for 2050. I love this generation. 2 Likes 1 Share |

BULLIONVAN4 post=81819894: LIES! Diseases which cannot kill anyone these days decimated people then. The rate at which children die from the minute of sicknesses, road accidents, wars etc. However, it's countries that are planning 2050 that have high life expectancy rates yet some people infatuate about a period where small pox killed children? 2 Likes |

lilbest4:What do you expect today when back then they were busy producing kids they cannot cater for, my two poor uncles hard 5 & 7, mom had 6, neighbor 8, I mean this people hardly feed then do you expect miracle in the future besides happiness is created within oneself. Civilization made it more difficult for poor minds, we're just putting ourselves in tougher situations, one must buy a car, build mansion, get a good job before you consider yourself happy then again you realize the top leader and families has to live their flamboyant life first before thinking about average poor citizens |

[quote author=Rapmoney post=81777188]If you had your childhood in the 70's or 80's, you should be able to recall and relate with the way life was back then and now. This post is not out to paint any generation bad but as a realist, I owe myself a duty to state the bitter truth and nothing but the bitter truth; there is a high scale of decay in our social system. Then Vs Now... 1) Back then, someone's child was like the child of the neighborhood. You could easily correct an erring child as an adult even in the presence of the parents. Today, you hardly can. You dare not shout at a child in the presence of the parents even if he/she erred! My brother, the kind eye wen the pikin mama go dey look you ehn, cold go catch you! This contributes a lot to why many children bahave immorally at surprising ages! These days, most young couples are just fit to reproduce but not fit to be parents. 2) Back then, when a child failed his/her exams in school, be sure he/she would sleep at the neighbour's house that night. Why you go fail? Today, there are so many mushroom private schools competing for parents' attention. Nobody fails anymore. If a child performs poorly and fails, the class teacher must explain to the robust, well-fed, money-conscious proprietor why the child failed, even if the child does not know that fish lives in water. 3) Back then, a secondary school student dare not visit his/her assumed lover at home. As a guy, you go stand for about ten buildings from the babe papa house, then send a 'Good Samaritan' child in the area to call her. If you are a girl, no even think about am. After the boy mama finish you with mouth, you go trace your mama house with speed! Today, even kids in Jss 3 organise parties in hotels around town, pop pills and smoke skunk. 4) Kids in the 70's/80's used suwe, flying kites, riding wheels and tyres, ludo, otori (hide and seek), Tales by Moonlight, wording (jokes), etc to pass time. Today, kids use porn and online betting to pass time. 5) Back then, you would become the envy of the neighborhood when you gain admission to study in the university. Area people go be like: 'Shuo! I hear say Mosco dor enter Uniben o!' Today, nobody gives a hoot whether you are in Migwor University or University of Vrendo! You must buy Benz first! Na wetin area wan know to calculate your 'success'. 6) Back then, to see a babe pant hard pass to enter USA with Donald Trump as president; you fit date babe for six months, you never taste the Oripopo. Today, sex is negotiated freely and openly as if na crayfish market. Women now shamelessly place price tags on themselves on social media for anyone who can afford the bill. 7) In the 70's and 80's, young women who exposed their bodies indecently were frowned at. Today, we now celebrate them shamelessly! This is one of the reasons why many young women now hide under the movie industry to prostitute themselves. Oh, I remember folks like Bukky Ajayi, Rachael Oniga, Christy Essien-Igbokwe (Zebrudaya's movie wife), etc. God bless these women even in death! Nostalgic feelings... Hmm....I really miss that era of peace and calm. When children and youths only watch meaningful TV programs like Speak out Robin hood Sweet Indian movies Aluwe Tales by moon light Story land Ah! Life was so serene and sweet as in.... I wish I grew up then and married in that era when guys were still humble and faithful. Not now that a guy will have 8 999 girls on their Facebook friends list. Hmmm just a few days ago, I was reminiscing on the good old days. When there were no internets and stuffs. When life was decent. The only armed robber we heard of then was anini but now even your twelve year old neighbors son had a gun. All these rubbish came with the millennium reign y2k I could remember then I was running a computer program in Ikeja in the early 2000s. That was when the decency of this generation gave way. 1 Like |

Rapmoney: True words bro. You made me walk back memory lane. Point of Corrcection though, Madam Christy Essien Ibokwe (God rest her soul) was not the wife of Chief Zubrudaya (a.k.a Zaybee). It was Madam Ovlaria (the one he usually called Ovlaria Okorigbo Nwogbo alias 430). If i recall. 1 Like |
