The issue is complicated

There are many Nigerians selling drugs in SA and over 4 million Nigerians in SA

The South African government has us by the balls. tbh

So can you confidently say that all the business destroyed and people attacked are those involved in drugs?

What kind of reasoning is this? undecided

How will your celebrities react... If it where a bomb blast in France or America, you would have seen the imbeciles that call themselves Naija celebs posting hashtags on social media like the dumb, "Pray for France", "My heart goes out to Syria", "I am with you America", etc...

At the end, all these na just talk... Things will cool down, everything will be forgotten, till the next xenophobic opportunity. Anyone who thinks these guys will have a change of heart is dreaming. Xenophobia is like a disease, a mindset, an indoctrination, just like racism... Meaning they will always hate foreigners, especially Nigerians.

Another stereotypical copycat comment!

Enough! Enough of these silly comments debasing your country. Nigeria is this Nigeria is that! Aren't you ashamed of such silly statements.

Just because you want to be part of the "useless stereotypical bandwagon on nairaland" that insult this country don't mean you should be up here writing this trash.

All I see on nairaland concerning this issue is tribal wars and debased and abusive comments aimed at this country/citizen in the full glare of the internet world!

Shame on you and your level of reasoning!
Shame on you and your negativity!

If you think this way, who do u expect to correct the situation in Nigeria? Your late grandma? The sooner you are aware it's you, the better you stop this copycat comments.

Nonsense!

Is this the first xenophobic attack on us this year?
Is this the second xenophobic attack on us this year?
Is this even the third xenophobic attack on us this year?

Yeah, shame on me and my negativity.

Honestly I don't understand how Instagram has anything to change in a xenophobic attack carried out by ppl who don't even go online. This Instagram is highly overrated and I hate that app with passion. If them serious then a protest should change something and not some 3mb post on gram.

What can the Nigerian government do?

We are not in a position for this type of diplomatic fight at the moment.

The Nigerian government is caught between a rock and a hard place and there's no easy way out.

Assuming these our corrupt and greedy leaders had made this country habitable to her citizens, our people won't have been victims of these xenophobic attacks in S.A.

Nigerians home and abroad need to stand up and fight for this Country or else there won't be a safe haven for any Nigerian.

A lot of South Americans are known for vices like drug peddling and prostitution... But, there are many more that work harder than most American citizens, and they are very legit in all their dealings. Same thing goes for Nigerians in the diaspora.

Learn to avoid the common error of fallacious generalizations.

The main enemies of Nigerians and the collective individuals within this geographical space are the bastards you have in government and corridors of governance...stone them and bite their ears off by any means you see them at any range close to you... Until Nigerians rise up by force and destroy this current fraud we call government and rouges in aso rock, retrace the steps of this common boundary we share..formulate a new confederation governed by a law , collectively founded by long existing protectorates rumble together in a mixed madness called unitary and forced amalgamation of farce... ( aburi accord is still looking at you people)
Rather the autonomy and individuality of each region with self respect , dignity, culture, practice and recognition while they begin the journey to self actualization, even though they decide to maybe, stay in an organized federation. Until then Nigerians are just blabbing...only then shall a country like south Africa realize we were part of their Messiah in their harsh times of apartheid.. Only then shall any nincompoop from any medieval part of Africa or the world know you don't try shiiit with any individual from this part of a Confederated republic...but what do most ediots do here?, promote buhari, promote tinubu , defend PDP and lie for APC...GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA IS THE NUMBER ONE ENEMY OF PEOPLE ( FEDERAL , SENATE, REP ALL NIGERIAN POLITICIAN...ALL OF THEM..
ONEDAY NA ONEDAY....

Its too early for this

When you catch people for crimes, they are convicted and sentenced

Why aren't Malaysians, Indians, Cambodians and Americans attacking Nigerians in their countries? Or have you heard being xenophobic

Ok, what can the Nigerian government do?

Any uncalculated decision taken by the Nigerian government would have a ripple effect that would affect Nigerians even in Nigeria.

What was the outcome of Pre.Buhari'meetings with his South Africa Counterparts that we can hear the agenda? Why is it difficult these days for our president to address Nigerians life?.Former President Obasanjo did this at least quarterly then.By the way,is this not the same South Africa country that Nigeria was dying for then(in the 70's and 80's) in the whites-man Apartheid, when Nigerians were boycotting Olympic games, wasted money on Foreign relations etc, just to liberate the same people destroying us and our properties now.? Indomie generation needs HISTORY to be taught in our schools so as to know how much Nigerians have sacrificed for Africa .Yet, Mr President still want to visit there-to plead or what?.

Uncalculated decision?

Nobody is talking about attacking SouthAfricans here.

Let our Minister of Foreign affairs go over there and have a meeting with the South Africans. Let the president go there and meet with them and even the Nigerian community.

Round table discussions can help solvd this issue. And if their government is in support of this, then ties can begin to be cut gradually

You don't attack everybody because someone commits a crime. I'm shocked you still see nothing wrong with it

I have lived in South Africa and experienced different Xenophobic attacks in the past.

I also witnessed meetings upon meetings with South African delegations.

Funny enough, the attacks only get more bloody every single time

There's a political dimension to going hard on Xenophobic attacks in South Africa. The ANC(leading political party in SA) have been playing Ostrich since the attacks started about a decade ago.

Although i believe the Nigerian government need to develop a robust mechanism for the next attacks because I am sure there will be another one.

The hunger in Nigeria now have depreciated to looting Provision stores in the midnight to steal bread and biscuits.

no country survives in isolation, None. If you seek to cut down on immigrant domination, why not deport nigerian's into shady deals, convicted of various crimes and not legally permitted to reside in the country rather than kill them. Besides, a handful might not have the finances to pay for a flight back home.
