Thieves have made away with a Toyota Camry with registration number Lagos LSR 355 AR, belonging to the Punch Abuja bureau chief, Adetayo Olalekan.

The silver car was stolen from First Bank premises in Central District Business, Abuja on Thursday.

Items taken away along with the vehicle include an iPad, hair clippers, house keys, four shirts, documents and N5,000 cash.

Adetayo had parked in front of the Coomasie House branch to withdraw some money from the bank’s Automated Teller Machine when the car stolen.

It was gathered that several cars belonging to customers had been stolen from the parking lot despite the presence of private security guards and policemen.

A police officer attached to the bank disclosed that a car was similarly taken away by thieves a few days ago.

Narrating his ordeal, Adetayo said: “I parked the car in front of the First Bank and I went to the ATM gallery to carry out a transaction but I observed that the machine was not functional, so I left.

“But when I got to the park, my car was nowhere to be found.

“I initially thought it was towed away by the Federal Road Safety Corps officials but checks at their car dump at Eagle Square indicate that they did not carry out a towing operation around the bank premises.”

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said the police were investigating the theft.

I have enough problems in my life, don't want to compound them by reading the demented ramblings of people who are clearly not stable.

I avoid that website like the plague now. Everyday bad news

The private security must be investigated thoroughly.

I see some connivance with these car thieves

What? The police man that spoke with the journalist about how another car had been stolen at that same place before the Abuja bureau Chief's car, should be ashamed of himself. What is their duty there? Are they not expected to protect lives and properties? I suspect either the private security guards or the police officers knows about it. Either of them must have connived with the criminals. We are talking about a car here, not a bicycle. And for it to have happened at different occasions in the past is something to think about.

As for me, In God I trust for my protection.

ATM wasn't working then he turned back, that should be less than 2 mins assuming he was not involved in idle talk, is that how fast they now steal cars?

If the security operatives at the bank are tortured very well, they will lead you to where the car is parked.

Smh if a governors daughter can be kidnapped, this one's car stolen, sars killing and oppressing innocent citizens it means that when you go out and come in safely,it's a miracle and you owe it to God to thank him

The art of living in Nigeria everyday itself is a miracle

Living through Nigerians deception, unreasonable men and women, rapist, thieves in uniform and mufti, bad roads and reckless drivers itself is a miracle.

The fact that you are minding your own business and no one used his own foolishness to rope you in a problem that is not your own, you need to thank God
