Tribunal Dismisses Petition Against Ex Imo Deputy Speaker Chidiebube Okeoma The Election Petitions Tribunal in Owerri has struck out the petition brought before it by Kingsley Echendu of the Peoples Democratic Party challenging the declaration of the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Ugonna Ozurigbo, as the winner of the February 23 Nkwerre/Nwangele/Isu/Njaba federal constituency poll. Ozurigbo contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. The judge criticised Echendu for claiming there was no election in some wards in the federal constituency and later claimed there was overvoting in the same wards. In striking out the petition, the tribunal said there were glaring inconsistencies in the petitioner’s claims.
