Concrete doesn't stop erosion. They make the land less fertile.

To stop erosion, ban tree cutting and plant more trees at erosion prone areas. Anything else is patch patch.

you mind them... the topography of those areas are sloppy..when you examine the river Benue and Niger passing the South East. you can tell that its an higher elevation from the North downs south.. which makes them susceptible to erosion. the only way to stop the erosion is tree and Grass planting... ban tree cutting. there should be awareness about erosion and the people shd stop indiscriminate dumping of wastes in water channels....

Showing the few being tackled is more or less self deceit. The erosion is real, far worse than this propaganda and threatening a lot of towns

The man you represent is a failure to Imolite, thank God for Emeka Ihedioha, he's on real rescue mission in Imo, Okorocha abounded his priorities and was busy molding rubbish all over Owerri

Anambra State government eyes on the ball.

This archaic drainage system will fall apart in no time. They should use precast box culverts if they are really serious in combatting erosion.

Jobless dirty frustrated old vagabond. The horrible situation in imo state should be making you to weep but you are busy feeling funky. Imo state particularly Owerri has far worse roads and erosion menace than anywhere in SE and SS, but you are more concerned in doing propaganda for okoroawusa.

In all sincerity imo state is a failed state. Ihedioha cannot do much because there are almost 100% bad roads in Imo state after okoroawusa wasted 8yrs with nothing to show except massive debt.

SE and erosion matter sha.

But the mud red sha o.

You are a simpletonic tribalist. There is also erosion in SW. The beach fronts in Lagos, Ogun and Ondo are being washed away daily. We can all be tribalists but some things are just too petty to tribalize. Get a life.

Looking at developments going on all over the state in Anambra and Ebonyi makes you realise just how little Rochas did in Imo during his 8 year governance! Not that these two states mentioned have attained Uhuru yet...just that you can see what their gov’ts are doing!

The best bet is to convert gully and valley available to water storage tanks/ silos to harvest water during rainy season and in turn pump the water out for dry season farming activities. We waste resources in Africa.

I thought of that as well! I think due to paucity of funds, it’s better they do the little they can for now....at least so things don’t deteriorate further! When the state gets richer then they can upgrade things to the way you suggest!

The thing about erosion is that the soil under the culverts will eventually move and take the concrete works with it.

Channeling the flood is a good start. But it is not the solution considering also that the job is being poorly implemented. What really do Nigerians learn in school?
