Jhennie:You must prepare, and take examination to have a TRCN certificate. It is a professional certification that proves you are a qualified teacher, and educationist, so, my brothers, and sisters don't waste your time thinking you can get it just like that. The only exception is when you were given just after graduation having applied for those who hold a B.Ed from a University or an NCE from a College of Education. If you have not gotten yours, you have to wait for their next examination which will be next year. The last examination which TRCN conducted was three weeks ago, and results of candidates who passed will soon be released. There are people who pass, and fail. The other thing you need to know is that TRCN is a branch of the Ministry of Education, and a directive on ground is that anyone in the education line especially teachers who are not registered with the TRCN by December, 2019 will be arrested as unqualified teachers if found teaching, and whichever institution hosting such teachers will be indicted. The truth is, you cannot go through the back door in this case. Aside from the certificate, there is also a license which TRCN issues which you also must apply for, and they are renewable every year. It is a matter of quality not quack manifestations now. The Education sector is truly being sanitized. I am in the system, so, I know what I am telling you. Do it the right way because in this case there is no compromise.I know a Nigerian Army Colonel who participated in the last TRCN examination, because the Army no longer jokes if you don't have these professional certifications especially for DSSC applicants. There was so much pressure on the Colonel from the Education Corp that he had to get a to whom it may concern from NTI pending when he will be issued his TRCN certificate if he passed. It is no longer business as usual. I am not scaring you, but I am telling you fact on ground. |

jameh48:I wrote the last exam which was actually on the 8th of June, the results came out in July, and there were lots of failures. Those that passed have to pay for the registration and certificate, the cost depends on your qualification (NCE, B.Ed, Masters, PGDE). The certificate is expected before the end of the year. Meanwhile the next exam is scheduled for next month. |

jameh48:You may not know, but if you know this fine. TRCN issues (1) Certificate (2) License (3) Ensure you are registered with them as the title 'TR' can be used or attached to your name and used by you just like other professionals(This is renewable every year), (4) They also provide a platform where you can register in the Association of teachers in your own field of study asides from the main registration. (5) Take up legal cases on your behalf especially when you are being exploited or denied your welfare, rights, and being made to work outside your terms of employment. (6) Where necessary, they also connect you for jobs; that is usually amongst colleagues from the Association of your registered field of study. This is just a few among many benefits. I am only encouraging you to do the needful, and ask questions where neeccessary even as hope is anchored on God towards the best. 1 Like |

nora2018:Yes, you need to have a PGDE before applying for the TRCN certification especially if you don't have a background in Education, but those who have NCE, or B.Ed don't need to do PGDE before applying. PGDE takes one year, and you can apply with any University accredited to run a PGDE, you can apply at National Teachers' Institute, National Open University of Nigeria, and you also can apply for PGDE in Colleges of Education... Applications usually are open around October, November, and especially in December for which admission letters are issued then with lectures commencing in January...Note: Not every application is considered, but hope for the best. 1 Like |

jameh48:National Teachers' Institute especially is most convenient as they are affiliated to University of Ilorin, Open University, and a few others and their admission entries, and issuing of admission letter commences in December. Once, you apply, and you are considered for admission, your admission letter is issued to you 48hours after applying. Lectures commences in January to December. They adhere to their timing, and are very professional with their operations. 1 Like |

nora2018:I tell you Sometimes, it may even cost more especially when you are to undertake your project. You can confirm from anyone here who undertook PGDE, but, this is not to scare you. National Teachers'Institute, and National Open University of Nigeria actually have the cheapest running cost for PGDE compared to other institutions where you will get drained paying for handouts, and still buying books. NTI especially will give you all the modules (books)required for your courses, and the contents are very rich. You only need to prepare your brain because it will catch fire afresh for your good though. |
