Rubbish! So what about the N187 Million balance? angry Yet, they'll jail the common man for stealing bread and other petty items.

Everything about the Nigerian system reeks of corruption. The air we breathe, the water we drink. the land we walk, the clothes we wear, the food we eat... I mean everything, all and all about Nigeria is CORRUPT! angry
The first payment is just to close the case @ the court possibly safe his face while the remaining 187m will be spread @ an agreed installment. And if u read carefully, the lawyer said "over 350m". That's how settlement of debt works if you cannot @ once!

While I agree with you but I must also state that the common man should stop stealing bread and other petty item's or else he will rot in jail.

The law wasn't established to start comparing between what the common man stole from what the rich man stole.

You can't use the stealing of a rich man to justify the criminal acts of a common man, that's illogical and a relegation of common sense and critical thinking.

I agree with the fact that we should be responsible for our actions but, the activities of the miscreants at the top is consequential to those beneath...

I agree with you but the law isn't interpreted and adjudicated by those considerations.

Smart Duke. He waited to be taken to court so he'll settle out of court for less than he owed.

From his days as Governor of Cross River State, he remains, in my opinion, the most outstanding Governor to ever rule any state.

Is it his Tinapa. Is it the massive Agric programmes. Is it the Introduction of world class sanity and cleanliness to the streets of Calabar.
How about the World renowned Calabar Carnival.

Nigeria has high rate of illiteracy and poorly exposed populace, if not, he should simply have risen to the presidency. Even OBJ who could have achieved that preferred Yar'adua.

In finance, full & final payment is acceptable. Don’t forget that a large portion of the debt is accrued interest.

Las las, AMCON didn’t lose.

In other news, Oga has repatriated $1M only from the stash abroad.

So much ignorance in one post.
You should have checked for the initial amount he borrowed minus the interest.
Then you consider how much AMCON acquired the debt from the commercial bank(s) involved.

Out of court settlements are legal and applied the world over. Didn't you hear that Nigeria agreed an out of court settlement of $850m with PFID on a judgement of over $6b.

People should learn not to expose their ignorance on topics far above their intelligence realm.

This system is so so unfair.

The rich can easily go away with things.

So, Duke walked away with N187M. SMH

Nope. It's actually you that should read carefully. The statement said that the court has cleared him of the debt after paying #350m as final settlement. That means he will not pay the balance of #187m. That has been written off.
