obiekunie2:What is this one saying? Must you comment if you dont have anything important to add? Na Seun I blame. He has to upgrade Nairaland's censorship from tribalistic retards like you. Since you are not a spokesman for the majority of the peace-loving Igbos in Lagos, I will refrain from given you your deserved dose of insults. Nobody forced you to come to Lagos. You can as well take your tax and 'businesses' back to your State, as i am very sure it needs it more. Please don't come here acting like you are doing Lagos or Nigeria a favour. It doesn't owe you Jack shit!!! |

This is why you should always separate company account from personal account.. She’s probably using her company account for personal reasons and the Tax man in this case is only interested on the income. |

madenigga:If you see how inland revenue service officials come to harass small shop owners to pay tax... I mean pepper sellers, small stationery sellers, plantain sellers, I mean small food in cooler sellers, they wickedly bill these struggling people tax of 70k some times they give them fixed tax of 10k per month.... this government rides on mass ignorance, it’s their greatest weapon... once u don’t know ur right, you can’t even get angry enuf to protest or fight back... |

If you do business, you will understand that it isnt easy to do business and pay tax. Most people are making meagre profit, after expenses to run their businesses. Imagine you buy an item for N10,000, and sell N10500, you haven't made your 5% tax and 7.5% VAT, talk less of profit. And if you incorporate those to the price, people won't buy from you. Government tax whatever monies that pass through your personal or company account, if you like let it be someone sent you money to give to another person, that one no concern FIRS and co. Most business people are just having cash flows but doesnt translate to profit. |

Government is doing everything possible to shut down all small and medium scale businesses. You go pay waste disposal to both local and state government, signage fee, tax of various kinds. This is getting too much and at the end of the day business owners start looking for money elsewhere to pay rent and salaries. |

This is one of the reasons why small businesses are being strangled day by day in Lagos. You find multiple taxations everywhere. Any gvernment that really want to create businesses that will in turn create Jobs will look into this issue. Trump's tax plan was simple create tax incentives to reduced exportation of Jobs and keep them in the US. but here in Nigeria the reverse is the case and it is so pathetic in Lagos. That one starts to ask where is the dividend of the tax you still have to drill your borehole you still need to buy clean water for drinking. the state government still employs a cosmetic approach to road maintenance, lekki residents pay tolls to leave and enter lekki, and you wonder what the tax is used for. what aches me is that we suffer in silence instead of really holding our leaders accountable most especially in Lagos. A closer look is in the light rail contract this is 10 years and counting and the rail is incomplete for a 27 km rail line and yet in Ethiopia you have a 759 km rail line already completed at a far lesser amount per km. Some foolish supporters of APC will argue that the terrain in Lagos is worse and i laugh. The don't know that Ethiopian terrain is the worst in africa with 90% of the mountain ranges in africa all cited in Ethiopia precisely in the Blue Nile gorge and Djibouti corridor where the rail line passes and we know that it is highly challenging to design in a mountain range, whereas Lagos is table land especially the corridor where the light rail passes and the number of bridges and the distance for the bridges is small compared to the Ethiopian heavy rail. which begs the question why hasn't there been an audit of this project in all this while. And you have tax payers in that area being subjected to untold hardship because of the gridlock in that corridor. |

Beat123:just look at how this one is taking...with the way yeyebrities flaunt their wealth in public ,govwrn6should have been taxing them Wella....do u even know the millions American celebrities pay as tax ![]() if average Nigerian shop owner is paying tax,who is iyabo not to pay...it's obvious she hasn't been paying tax for years just like how Linda ikeja was taxed 100m |

obynzo:please don't compare USA with Lagos.... do u even know that American government tax their citizens far more than what Nigerian government tax...the tax that average American celebrities pay is far more than. income of Nigerian yeyebrities.. naija yeyebrities escape tax especially flaunting their wealth online...u don't try that in America without 6being taxed heavily |
