Just shooting into the air is enough to scare away the students.

In South Africa during the xenophobic riots, police used rubber bullets.

Life is precious and irreplaceable. It should be treated as such.

Ekiti State now trending in the news for the bad reason.

Nigeria Police is a curse on its own.
I never had an encounter with them until yesterday and today.

Permit me to relay what established tje encounter with them.

At about 3pm yesterday, Thursday, 12th of September, I was in the vehicle with my brother. We got to the famous park in Abujaa and my brother was answering a call so he was moving slowly. Then a guy beckoned on him to stop the car. He whined down and the guy said my brother was not supposed to move slowly there and that FCT minister asked them to be arresting those that parked there, that there is a nail placed under the tyre and that the fire would burst should he move and that my brother would have to pay #30k to be freed or he'd follow them to their office where he'd have to pay #50k.

I was seated beside him and I was recording evrrybting diligently on my phone. They became many and were becoming aggressive so we had to part with #5k so as to be allowed to go.

We saw a Police patrol team and we registered our complaint, they asked two female police officers to go with us and one of them was arrested as others ran away. To even agree to follow us, they collected #2,000 from us.
After arresting the culprit, they collected the #5,000 from him, they DCO removed #2,000 forcefully and gave us #3,000.
The IPO in charge of the case collected #1,000 from the remaining #3,000.

In short, we were made to pay #5,000 to arrest hoodlums that extorted #5,000 from us.
We wanted to create a scene there but the DCO was drunk beyond stupor and was already becoming aggressive and threatening to implicate us if we do not play along.

We left there around 7pm and we were there since around 10am.

I see qhg Nigerian Police would qualify as the most corrupt Police in the world.
I lost hope in this country!
It is actually the 2nd most corrupt after the shambolic Democratic Republic of Congo. Kenya comes third.

Our police should have used robber bullet or teargas or water to scatter those students instead of life bullets. Regrettable.
In Nigeria, rubber bullets and teargas are more expensive than human lives and real bullets angry

Last time in Abuja, it was shiite guys with real bullets instead rubber bullets. Some said that they deserved it because the police claimed that shiites attacked them first.
This week, it was students protesting. Our police came up with the same story of "they attacked us first".

May the gentle souls of the departed rest in perfect peace. This news is sickening. why are Nigerian police not trained to value precious lifes. we have no value for human life in this country. just the other day I was on a bike and a trailer inside traffic ran with full speed knocking a faragon and the faragon summersulted with people filled inside, almost knocking the bike i was on. I told the bike man to stop so we could rescue some people. the bike man became so angry because he wanted to rush to pick more passengers and shouted at me. even if a chicken had died. atleast they would have been a reaction than how the bike man reacted. No single empathy, this guy just zoomed off. God forbid the rate at which Nigerians have become so merciless and hardened to precious human lives. I spit on this country. I regret ever being a Nigerian.

I think police stations should be converted to poultry houses....it would be more helpful and beneficial to the masses than these criminals in uniform. NPF should be changed to Nigeria Poultry Farming

Avoidable death.

And nobody is saying anything.
NAN is death, NLC death too

Anobody in govt is jst having a field day killing, maiming, looting, harassing etc

This killing that started in the north to east has finally gotten to the west.
Its either we (collectly) do something or be gruesome murdered by agents of govt.

In fact l want to believe the govt of the day might be in full support of killings like this

Ngrtrend:
Ekiti State Government on Friday sent a delegation of senior government officials to the families of the two students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, who were shot dead while protesting against incessant power outage in their school on Tuesday.

The Police had said that no one died during the incident, adding that the protest was hijacked by hoodlums.

However, President of the Student Union Government of FUOYE, Oluwaseun Awodola, insisted that the police were responsible for the death of the students and should be held accountable.

Awodola gave the names of the deceased students as Oluwaseyi Kehinde Dada, a 100-level student of Crop Science and Horticulture; and Joseph Okunofua, a 300-level student of Biology Education.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, claimed that the students attacked the convoy of the wife of the state governor, Bisi Fayemi.

Ikechukwu also alleged that the students assaulted policemen, damaged a police vehicle. He denied that the Police shot any student at the scene.

That police will do anything against their fellow police officers? Not in this country. DPOs at the stations are better to report to than others on the road

But at least you made a good point and also saved a lot of hapless people from paying roger to the idiots. Its only to shoot at innocent students they sabi undecided
Re: Ekiti Government Pays Condolence Visit To Parents Of Slain FUOYE Students by Greatzeus(m): 1:18pm On Sep 15, 2019
The Bible says a foolish child is a sorrow to his mother. look at the house and poor parents someone left to go to school. He got to school and still went ahead to join some idiots to be protesting for lack of electricity.
Is power problem not a general thing? Stupid students think because they are now in University reading outdated books they are bigger than life.
Even when there's power, how many of them used it too read? How many students still read today sef?
They have the right to protest, which makes their grievance known, but you attacked the envoy of a first lady with police escort, knowing fully well the kind of trigger happy police we have in Nigeria.
I don't pity the dead or wounded students, only the poor parents who raised foolish children, may God console them.
