Ekiti Government Pays Condolence Visit To Parents Of Slain FUOYE Students by Ngrtrend: 7:05pm On Sep 13, 2019 |
Ekiti State Government on Friday sent a delegation of senior government officials to the families of the two students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, who were shot dead while protesting against incessant power outage in their school on Tuesday. The Police had said that no one died during the incident, adding that the protest was hijacked by hoodlums. However, President of the Student Union Government of FUOYE, Oluwaseun Awodola, insisted that the police were responsible for the death of the students and should be held accountable. Awodola gave the names of the deceased students as Oluwaseyi Kehinde Dada, a 100-level student of Crop Science and Horticulture; and Joseph Okunofua, a 300-level student of Biology Education. The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, claimed that the students attacked the convoy of the wife of the state governor, Bisi Fayemi. Ikechukwu also alleged that the students assaulted policemen, damaged a police vehicle. He denied that the Police shot any student at the scene. Our police should have used robber bullet or teargas or water to scatter those students instead of life bullets. Regrettable. 13 Likes |

Have always said it protesting in Nigeria is a suicide mission..where you have hungry aggressive, frustrated uncoordinated and trigger happy police men's ..no crowd control measure other than their rusty Ak's .. I will rather advise you rant on twitter and nairaland and over the years these rants have been productive . My heartfelt condolence to the parents but the most painful thing is nobody will be held accountable for their death, they died for nothing..R.I.P comrades CHECK MY PROFILE, your electronics at best prices 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Tragic Ekiti State now trending in the news for the bad reason. Nigeria Police is a curse on its own. I never had an encounter with them until yesterday and today. Permit me to relay what established the encounter with them. At about 3pm yesterday, Thursday, 12th of September, I was in the vehicle with my brother. We got to a famous park in Abuja and my brother was answering a call so he was moving slowly. Then a guy beckoned on him to stop the car. He whined down and the guy said my brother was not supposed to move slowly there and that FCT minister asked them to be arresting those that parked there, that there is a nail placed under the tyre and that the fire would burst should he move and that my brother would have to pay #30k to be freed or he'd follow them to their office where he'd have to pay #50k. I was seated beside him and I was recording evrrybting diligently on my phone. They became many and were becoming aggressive so we had to part with #5k so as to be allowed to go. We saw a Police patrol team and we registered our complaint, they asked two female police officers to go with us and one of them was arrested as others ran away. To even agree to follow us, they collected #2,000 from us. After arresting the culprit, they collected the #5,000 from him, the DCO removed #2,000 forcefully and gave us #3,000. The IPO in charge of the case collected #1,000 from the remaining #3,000. In short, we were made to pay #5,000 to arrest hoodlums that extorted #5,000 from us. We wanted to create a scene there but the DCO was drunk beyond stupor and was already becoming aggressive and threatening to implicate us if we do not play along. We left there around 7pm and we were there since around 10am. I see why the Nigerian Police would qualify as the most corrupt Police in the world. I lost hope in this country! Edited Just now, my brother was called that he didn't pay for case file which is #1,000. So as it stands, we might be made to lose #1,000 yet again. Nigeria is a zoo, to be honest. The picture below taken at the famous Nyanya park. What does this tells you? 41 Likes 3 Shares

Looking at this picture i cant help but feel extremely bad, the parents of the young man are not well to do going by the modest background, old tv, curtains and calender, i am sure they where hoping on their son to graduate become a great man and help to uplift the family now the dream is cut short, it hurts, may the killers be repaid in thier own coin, may the souls of the young men rest in perfect Godly peace and may God give the families the fortitude to bear this terrible loss, please ppl protect yourself the country and her leaders care less, Fayami didn't deam it fit to make a statement or visit personally it goes to show that we are OYO in this 9ja...pleas stay safe. May God never allow us or our loved ones to experience calamity of any form. Amen 20 Likes 2 Shares |

Fayose was a jester we all knew that, fayose wasn't the most outstanding of governor's we all knew that, fayose took his government to his people and some of you mocked him here but this tragic act never happened under his leadership. Now APC and PDP be danmed but anyone that tries to take the blame away from the wife of fayemi may the pain this old women are passing through become yours. How would a fucking governor's wife police escort open life fire towards unharmed youth exercising their right to protest. We are too gullible in this country that's why this wicked hopeless leaders take us for a ride. Now as painful as this is , this same people mourning today would still come out enmass to vote for the candidate of fayemi in 2 years time instead of pelting him and his wife with shit. Our mumu never do 11 Likes |

I think Nigeria police should be immediately banned from using guns. They should give them batons and then radio so that they can radio soldiers to come around when need for arms arise. The Nigeria police officers have proven themselves completely not worthy to even handle a pen knife! 2 Likes |

ArmaniUhuru: The exact thing I was also telling a friend this evening, that why use a real bullet on students that are without weapon.. Where is the place of rubber bullet.. Even in a developed country, police won't use a real bullet on its citizens except it has gotten to a critical stage 2 Likes |
