2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid Vs LE by Tnycee(op):
I want to have informed advice and opinions about which trim of the 2007 toyota camry trims to go for.
I currently have option of the LE and hybrid with average mileage of about 200k miles at roughly same price.

I want to know which would serve me better with low maintenance and high reliability. Personally would have preferred the hybrid cos it's a full option with keyless entry, but I have concerns about about AC shutting off automatically while driving to preserve power and cost of replacement of battery.

I would appreciate informed opinions as this is going to be my first car...

MOD please kindly move to front page for more input. Thanks.

If the battery is good get the hybrid. It’ll pay off on your gas, engine oil change and brake pad costs.

The new battery lasts like 150k+miles , Heavily used will last half that to be realistic. You might drive an average of 15k miles a year.

How many miles is on the odometer of both cars?

Where did you get this info from? The compressor is electronic and never goes of once turned on with engine on or off.

Ask about the history of the car and repairs carried out.

If the battery was never serviced or hasn’t ever given issues then go online to 2007 Camry hybrid forums on google and search for reviews.

From there monitor the average time the battery fails for most users and then judge if the one you’re about to buy would be on its last legs soon mileage wise.

If the engine is still okay I’d take the hybrid sha plus guys here Dey service hybrids now if you’re in lag.

The whole battery doesn’t go bad at once. just individual cells deteriorate and those ones can be changed.

It is something to do with the ECO mode...there the cooling power of the AC is reduced. I don't know how by how much the power is reduced.

I read something about it in the link below too

If its not enough to make me wind down the windows in the hot sun, I'm ok with it.

I'm not going to read the link, I have sold 3 and AC was always chilling with the engine off

Hybrid. With the exception of S, trim is mostly a cosmetic thing. The question is gas or hybrid and if you're forward thinking, hybrid. Also, AC not affected by hybrid engine.

Seeing this, don't buy either car. Wait for lower miles.

Some few questions for you here:
1. are both vehicles buy and drive, or you still got some repairs to do?

2. if you go for the hybrid, is your pocket heavy enough to be able to bear the potential money stresses it would undergo?

3. do you have some funds somewhere you could budget for eventualities?

4. can you be patient when the car for instance is in a shop being fixed?
Some of the repairs we carry out on hybrid vehicles, aren't a plug and play thing, where you expect your car to be delivered sometimes immediately.

My suggestion:
1. don't buy that hybrid car, considering this is your first car.

2. considering the mileage of the car, its at its END already, pack wise.
The likelihood of battery failure, and other expensive components failing is much.
You might be lucky, the car won't give you problems, considering similar vehicles I have worked on.

3. if you want a vehicle, consider the none hybrid, although the hybrid has more MPG than the conventional Camry.

PS: But just in case you decide to go for a hybrid vehicle with a low mileage any, have some of these information here at your fingertips.

I wrote this some years ago.

Buy the LE because of resale value

Who told you the ac shuts off, to conserve preserve power?

Your biggest issue, should be the battery pack and cost of
Replacement + logistics.......
