While you are looking to identify differences, I feel it would be more enlightening to focus on similarities between the two groups

IPOB also refuses to recognise laws of Nigeria.

Boko haram refuses to register itself as a legal organisation that is accountable to any recognised legal authority with code of conduct.

You can't compare the 2 ..

The Boko harams leaders/ members themselves dont know what they are killing for or dieing for. So what they are demanding is senseless.

In the case of Ipobs, they have visions/agendas just that their manner of approach is wrong.

Ipobs needs to transform into a regional political party ( Not with this our current politicians oo).

Igbos' are known to be successful in business, they can do the same in politics only if they can work together.

Biafra might be achieved in the future but first, Igbo should put their house in order

We are comparing their different expected outcomes, not the process to achieve those outcomes (which makes one a terrorist and the other not). Please have an open mind.
There is no point is like comparing buhari to shakua or what ever the leader of boko haram is ...it makes no sense

Can u compare your mom to a prostitute because they both have sex with men ?

You would be very naive if you believe that UK government cannot sponsor, host and protect terrorists who operate in Nigeria, to further UK's evil agenda .

Who is IPOB to request a referendum ?

who gave them the authority or mandate to make such a request?
The law actually gives them the right to request a referendum. Article 20, section 1 of the AU charter, which Nigeria is a signatory to. Anyone can agitate for self determination and requesting for referendum is an important part of self determination. Whether the government gives a referendum is a separate issue

gidgiddy:
The ideology of Boko harm is that they want their brand of Islam enthroned on everybody, by force. The Taliban did the same in Afghanistan. The Taliban overran Afghanistan, seized government and enthroned their brand of Islamic fundamentalism on the rest of the country.

IPOB on the other hand has no interest in taking over any government nor enthroning any religious order on anybody. What IPOB wants is that a referendum be conducted a certain area called the SE/SS to determine if the ethnic nationalities in that area want to continue with Nigeria or get independence as Biafra

The difference between both ideologies is while Boko Haram are trying to enforce their ideology by force of arms, IPOB is trying to get their referendum without force of arms

I hope you realise that nothing you stated here is against the law? Not recognising the laws or making threats is not something you can charge anyone to court with

Making threats is intimidating and terroristic.

Also hate speeches

More similarity between Boko Haram and IPOD:

Both makes demands they know would be impossible to be met, so they can continue their mindless terrorism indefinitely claiming their impossible demands have not been met.

Boko Haram wants to Islamise entire country.

IPOD is seeking to break away with other regions of Nigeria which are outside South East.

There is no crime in the constitution of Nigeria called hate speech. Also, a person cannot be tried in court for making verbal threats. Who doesn't make verbal threats from time time? We all do it. So even if Nnamdi Kanu says he will burn Nigeria down, you cannot take him to court for talking and he cannot be convicted of a crime he is yet to commit.

Dont even bring terrorism into it. Terrorism must be an action, it cannot be mere talking.
