A 43-year-old man identified as Oluwole Bamidele has been arrested by the Ogun State police command for defiling his neighbor's 6-year-old daughter.

The resident of Agoro area of Agbado who was arrested after the father of the rape victim, Ikechukwu Blessing Orji reported at the Agbado police station, reportedly lured the little girl to his room when her mother visited a tailor's shop.

Confirming the incident, Police spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi said the girl reported the sad act to her mother when she returned. Bamidele confessed to the crime after being confronted with a medical report from a General Hospital in the state which confirmed the defilement.

The suspect has been transferred to the Anti-Human trafficking and child labor unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution as directed by the State's Police Commissioner, Bashir Makama.
