But that aside

If the SW are truly ready then they better start apologising to the rest of the south and MB for destroying this land

That is kind of midday news they promote at Nkporkiti junction and Obiagwu roundabout simply because they know IPOB youths lack sense of reasoning.

While you may be right in some of your assertions, there are some places you got some things wrong.

Firstly, you should understand the Yorubas and our ideological mindset. We play the highest form of advance democracy in Nigeria even since the time of the Awolowo. The Yorubas even amongst themselves will always share different political mindset and that always reflect from the votes in the SW since 1999. SW have evolved from AD, PDP, APC. What this means is that the Yorubas will always be liberal and most times have divergent views over issue of democracy even amongst themselves.

For the Igbos not voting Buhari coz of his antecedents or the fact that they think he’s an Islamic fanatic, that’s not true bro. The SE already swore their loyalty to the PDP and no matter who PDP produces, they will support the person will all their minds.

The SE are the one fronting for Atiku presently, but where is the SE when Atiku was on the ballot in 2007? Why did they vote for Yar’adua instead? Did you even know Yar’adua then before OBJ brought him to the limelight? Now the SE are projecting Atiku as the most destabilized Northerner now simply because they want to wrestle power from the APC. How many votes did Atiku got in the SE in 2007 if truly you guys liked him like you have always projected?

Lol, the Adesina praise online by the Easterners is just a way to get back at Buhari, they don’t love him and please don’t try to be economical with the truth. Adesina will not get 50000 votes in the SE if he contest under any party except PDP. Let’s stop deceiving ourselves.

I don’t know why you all keep blaming the Yorubas for 2015, I just can’t fathom that. The vote is like 56-44% in favor of Buhari even with the fact that Boko haram is wreaking Havoc then and Jonathan supervised the most corrupt government by not checkmating his comrades when they loot without honor. The most sensible thing for anybody to do in 2015 is to vote Jonathan out, if Igbos truly want a progressive nation everyone should have voted Jonathan out.

The only regret is the fact that Buhari was voted back in 2019 during the last election, even at that you can see that Atiku won 2 states in SW even with an Obi on the ballot at the expense of Osinbajo.

The Igbos will vote PDP even if a devil is the presidential candidate because their loyalty is to that party and they always thought their interest will be protected in PDP. One would have asked why the PDP did not deem it fit to give the Igbo man the presidential ticket since 1999? Have you ever wondered why? Why did Obasanjo had to take a SS(Jonathan) as VP instead of the SE?

For the Yorubas and the Igbos to be on the same side of political ideology, we need to first tell ourselves the truth. The kind of alliance needs to be defined honestly. I don’t have any problem with an Igbo man being president and I mean this from the depth of my heart, infact I will prefer Dave Umahi to be president coz that man is intelligent.

But let’s be realistic, even if Tinubu and the SW caucus in APC are willing to dash Igbo the presidency, can you please tell me the modalities to employ going by the current political configuration in Nigeria.

I’m asking you as a friend, if the Yorubas are willing to vote for a SE’ner, what modalities do you think both tribe can follow to make it a success?
Great post and you said it all. Kudos.

They will win the SW convincingly with a Fashola on the ballot provided the PDP fields a Northerner.

That’s a fact!
They MIGHT not win all the states in the South West (EKITI), and they will win no state in the SS/SE.. If they are LUCKY they will win kwara, kogi and Kaduna(Narrowly, considering the stunts El rufai had to pull to retain power in the state) amounting to at most 9 states out of 36 states & the Fct, which is a horrid - landslide of a loss.

Wake up & STOP DREAMING, no party in modern Nigeria would place two Muslims and Yorubas (considering that many people feel El rufai is of Yoruba ancestry) and expect to win a country as religiously and ethnically divergent as Nigeria, are you intoxicated on something or just being abruptly silly.

Those 100s of SS tribe make up part of the Niger Delta, part of the south, which you SOUTH west,Yoruba people betrayed for no reason other than because of your fathom beef with the igbos, taking gej as Igbo, and
virtually brought these evil Hausa Fulani people with all their attendant evil upon us..that's the greatest abomination, sacrilege ever on record as regards southern Nigeria!

Equally right is the position of my beloved comrade, lzaa, questioning the ops tribe, which to me is suspect.

Abeg Osinbajo should carry his load by himself. He should either resign like a man or ensure the humiliation he is being fed.

He helped Tinubu put Lagos inside his pocket in 1999 and Lagos is one of the worst places to live in the world today.

He sat there quietly as Buhari destroyed this country, filled almost every possible position with Fulanis and said nothing while Shiites, ipob and people were getting slaughtered. Southerners cried throughout Buhari's first term. We warned him today would come but e no hear.

Mad man, Lagos, by far, is the best place to live in Nigeria today. It is actually statistically safer than Many South African cities Nigerians run to yet are murdered brutally in. Yorubas, unlike Igbos, learn lessons from mistakes. If indeed Buhari is a mistake we supported to power then we will do something about correcting our error in future unlike you emotional folks who profess hate for Buhari/Fulani/the North and Islam yet queued behind Atiku who is a Fulani, Northerner and Moslem. If the North show us they wish to be treacherous then you will see how Yoruba rejection of the region will be deliberate and strategic. Unlike the noisemaking and confused antics of you lot. You don’t understand what is called SW and you are not one of us hence you cannot see the world through our eyes. What do you mean by Ekiti will not vote for Fashola because he’s a Muslim, that’s one of the most ridiculous claim I’ve ever heard.

One problem about Nigeria is that people think you can measure fact without comparison. In 2023, PDP will field a northern Muslim as president right? Do you think people in Ekiti will care about Fashola religion when he’s contesting against Kwakwanso or Tambuwal?

You have to judge situations with all the factors that can influence it, that’s why in science they always keep some factors constant. You mean a Kwakwanso will defeat a Fashola in Ekiti because El-Rufai is his vice?

Do you even know El-Rufai won the governorship election convincingly in Kaduna with a Muslim Muslim ticket even when people keep shouting about southern kaduna. Do you know?

The SW have learnt to break the chain of religious nepotism, 5 of the six current SW governors are Christians even with the fact that the Muslim/Christian proportion is maybe 50/50 with a margin of +- 5%.
What does that tells you? Do you see people shouting all around about that?

Now back to the topic, it’s not that I’m advocating for a Muslim/Muslim ticket but I’m just trying to voice out my opinion due to the fact that most SE/SS are core PDP states, even with an Osinbajo Christian on the ballot in 2023, they will never vote him.

If APC makes any mistake of looking for votes in the SE for Osinbajo in SE, it will just be a futile effort. If yorubas will contest in 2023, the best thing to do is to ally with the middle belt and the North.

Over time in history, the SE have always voted differently from the SW, I don’t know why but it seems our political ideologies are really different and it’s better for us to respect both region decision.

Bro in as much as I want some form of peace in the south, you have to face the fact here. The average easterner feel some sort of resentment towards the SW, that is evident in everything they always project. Go on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, go anywhere you will feel the resentment.

Where did all this hatred emanate from? Because of 2011 elections that saw Buhari became president? Do you know how much Yorubas voted for Jonathan in 2011 and 2015? Did Nigeria started in 2015?

Why the bleep will the Igbo keep accusing Yorubas of betraying the south when in the actual fact there is no one to betray? What about Azikwe betrayal? What about betrayal of Awolowo by voting Shagari? The betrayal of MKO by Igbos?

Have you ever seen the Yorubas point fingers and call the Igbos betrayal for voting who they wish they wanted. But since 2015 election that saw Buhari winning SW with a paltry 56% edge made the SE’ners wild with speech of how Yorubas betrayed the south. Which south loyalty exists in the first place if I may ask.

What you’re tryna do is like dipping a needle in an ocean, to bring the Yorubas and Igbos together in terms of politics should be termed one of the most difficult task in the world. Since 1960, we’ve had different ideologies and voted differently so why the bleep do people keep saying southern unity or so.

If you check Nigeria pattern, the Igbos have aligned most with the northerners while the Yoruba spent a lot of years in the opposition coz Awo died not fulfilling the dream of putting the Yorubas in the limelight.

It’s just absurd to keep claiming southern unity with you guys, which unity? Whose loyalty? Why should southwest swear allegiance to the SE ? Why not the other way round?do you even know what happened to the SW during Jonathan Government? How we were marginalized? How we weren’t part of the first four in Nigeria.
You weren't first four in Nigeria?
Caused by who?
You ppl always conveniently forget that GEJ and PDP nominated Mulikat Adeola Akande for speaker HOR,but Thiefnuubu directed ACN reps to dash it to your northern slave masters

Did you say Elf rufai won Kaduna convincingly??

Note: I live in Samaru (Zaria)
And can confidently tell you that the the two reasons he retained Kaduna were;
1. The PDP didn't field a strong name powerful enough to ganer influence, I voted in that election and I didn't even know who I was voting for.
2. Rigging; ask anybody in Kafanchan how they were bullied during the election.

El rufai couldn't win Zaria in a landslide (Muslim kaduna's capital) and you expect him the win Christian dominated Benue and Plateau states. If APC dares to field this man, I don't care who he runs, they will lose 2023.

The SS/SE will always vote for someone they feel is theirs (even for a VP slot then for a Yoruba)
And no northern state would give Tinubu or fashola a chance when kwankwaso is also contesting.

Bro while I can say I don’t know much about Kaduna since I don’t live in that area, I can at least say a bit about Nigeria electioneering system coz all states in Nigeria use the same template.

Based on the two point you spoke on about why El-Rufai won in Kaduna, isn’t that what always happen in all state of the federation. In Nigeria election, almost every incumbent state governors rig themselves in and politics in Nigeria is always about the highest rigger.

Why did Buhari amassed that much vote in the north? Isn’t it about rigging the numbers? In 2011, how did Jonathan got that massive vote from Rivers, isn’t it about rigging numbers too?

Trying to make Kwakwanso seem like a legend in the north is all about hyping, Ganduje won his candidate even if you will argue it’s due to rigging, but the fact remains that in Nigeria the highest rigger always win. If Kwakwanso were to be a small god like you guys always claim, he would have at least won convincingly for his candidate even with the rigging machinery of Ganduje.

I hope everyone stays alive in good health till 2023 and we can see as things unfold with time. An El-Rufai on the ballot as VP for APC will still sell in the north because as of now the most performing governor in the North is El-Rufai, he might be a religious bigot to the southerners but in the north he has some weight.
