Penuelseun:
The 6s1p you quoted isn't battery voltage but solar panel voltage, the inverter is connected to a 24v battery bank, the inverter is an hybrid(charge controller/inverter) with an mppt controller embedded causing the high solar voltage. You can't exceed an inverter's battery input voltage without causing total damage to the unit

Half knowledge is no knowledge o.
Now I get my questions answered. Voc and Isc is the deal in panels not the 12 or 24volts. My panel has Isc as 60a and Voc as 190v. So I can do my calculations myself from here. Thanks all.

Abigai:
Pls can this battery (2v/1000ah) give 12v or 24v?...

Hi Abigai,

you'll need a total of 6pcs, all connected in series, to give you 12V @1000Ah.

And you'll need a total of 12pcs, all connected in series, to give you 24V @1000Ah

cheers

Edited: just saw it has been answered by Dragnet.... cheers

I'm trying to compile a list of processes to automate at home. This will keep local man busy.

When all original goals are met, I just invent new stretch goals e.g I recently snapped up an 8Kva Victron Quattro just to play with at home, it was a fun weekend separating neutrals and rejigging my setup just to work with Victron grin

From my current ~11kw of panels, I plan to upgrade to ~16kw and a couple of new Victron Phoenix inverters in parallel by the end of the year.

The new mantra is now energy oversufficiency with multiple points of redundancy all built around renewable energy grin grin grin

Saw SSR but limited to 32V. Trying to see if I can eliminate the need for buck down converter. The clients setup is 48V.

Good evening house. I just got home to see my 200ah battery at 0% and voltage 0.2v. My son says he used it to watch TV for about 3 hours before switching it off on his way out.
What could be the probable cause(s) of this?
Will the battery still come up again?
What do I do?

Dishtech:

For what purpose is is it for?

Putting up a disconnect switch for an ac to come on when battery voltage reaches 54V and disconnects when it drains to 50V.

that behaviour is synonymous with a 2nd hand battery or the likes.
what is the status of the battery, how old is it etc, 0.2v is a serious anamoly, even if you somehow manage to get it up to 13v again, the damage is almost certainly irreparable, start making plans to buy fresh new batt

on 2nd tots, is the inverter and tv still functioning?.....

Just curious to see pictures of your setup; where are you finding space for more Panels as I think your roof must be fully occupied at 11kw talkless of going 16kw.
Respect!

Battery is about 6months old. I removed the battery reader and fixed the second battery reader to it and that one gave 100% and 13.1v. Presently TV and inverter are working now. When I fixed the battery reader to the old 100ah battery it read same 0% and 0.2v.

But what could have caused the anomalous reading.

It'll pay if you can get a portable clamp meter so you can successfully measure what's going on in your system. I'll recommend Uni-t clamp meters.

Bad meter or poor contact at connection.
Even a bad battery at rest would read way higher than 0.2V.

The capacity isn't indicated on it and I forgot to ask from the supplier, cos I assumed that it will be the peri-20,000mah that was of the types I had before. But this omw is smaller sized but with apparently more juice (as experienced from the use). I plan to even take it apart soon and see the innards.

I'll confirm from the supplier and get back to you.

that's whatsup. thanks

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ceaser: 5:09am On Sep 22, 2019
Folks.
I'm doubting the knowledge I hitherto think I have on these. What are the basic differences between them:

•Gel batteries (is it the same as AGM?)
•Absorbent Gel Mat (AGM) batteries
•Valve Regulated Lead Acid
•Tall tubular (I think I know well about this cos I dislike its noticeably noisy appearance and apparent babysitting I think it'll entail)

How comparable are their ruggedness and longevity and what are the dos and donts with these variants?
Do they (especially the GEL and VRLA) necessarily have the same charging parameters?

Thank you.

This upgrade is *planned* not yet actual.

All will be executed at a new location where the roof is entirely flat (decking/concrete).

Panels are already on ground just waiting for their install date to arrive.

Anyone you design for can just go sleep knowing that they are in safehands.

You might also want to be intentional about your adverts too, that way people can reach out to you for your services. @zeestone and co are deliberate about it.

NiyiOmoIyunade:
Thank you for the nice mention my Oga.

Please for next time, let someone else do the recommending while you buy the panels and any other RE equipment you need from me grin grin cheesy grin

People often forget that I am actually into the RE business full time, perhaps because I post freely and don't advertise much.

I need an urgent clarification, can I use 16mm² aluminum cable from my 2kwp solar panels to charge controller with distance of about 18.5m.
Thank you for your possible urgent response.

Use copper, there'll be loses with aluminium and it is said to deteriorate faster than copper, but your question needs more details, what voltage and amps are you sending over 18.5m ?
