My dear that is how it is done in most European countries. When they often go on a date, everyone pays. When I came to Europe, I was already told beforehand by my Ethiopian friend that when someone invites you for a coffee or to go out eating you will have to pay. Don't expect the person that invited you to foot the bills. If you know you don't want to pay then decline the invitation in a friendly manner.
