I believe most of these northern elements ( ie, both legitimate northern Nigerians and their cousins from Niger, Mali, etc) are economic migrants running away from the turmoil and strife up north! But among them would be sleeper cells and those intent on carrying out the Fulani/Islamic agenda of planting themselves firmly in the christian south as indigenous populations....kinda like they've done with Plateau/Jos, Adamawa, Taraba, etc!
