The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has rewarded its officers who patrolled Ketu/Ojota-Ogun Long Bridge from Friday till dawn of Saturday.

In a tweet on Monday, the squad said its commander, Tunji Disu, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, rewarded the officers at the parade ground.

The officers had stayed up all night after a diesel laden-truck fell at Berger area of the state on Friday, causing heavy gridlock.

“RRS team of Response riders, who patrolled Ketu/Ojota – Ogun Long Bridge till dawn of Saturday in the heat of Friday’s traffic caused by a fallen diesel laden truck at Berger, got rewarded today for job well done by @TunjiDisu1 at the parade ground,” the tweet read.

Their action prevents a lot of road users from losing their valuables to hoodlums.

It is time a solution is developed to clear such vehicles from the road. This is 2019 for Pete sake, 20 years into the 21st century!

An engineering solution can be found.

It should be possible to create a contraption that can be transported by a team of bikes to make it easy for them to maneuver traffic and coupled together at the spot to remove the broken down vehicle or vehicles. The contraption should be able to turn lorries up and even move them from the road. Engineering can do that.

It is extremely important that broken down vehicles are removed as swiftly as possible rather than to leave miles of frustrated motorists. When I was much younger, still a teenager, I felt combat helicopters could be used to lift up broken down vehicles especially trailers but the cost is punitive.

The policemen really deserves the compensation, they handled everything with care and urgency, that was the first time I saw the Nigerian police being responsible.

It's there job though, but since they always receive backlash when they don't do it well they should receive rewards when they do well.

At least it'll encourage others

1) What exactly is the reward?
2) Hope it's not letter of Commendation
3) Hope it's something tangible and financially gratifying
4) Hope the reward will not end up in the hands of their oga

There's nothing better than motivation for workers.

Shouldn't they be rewarded for working over time. As much as we all hate the NPF, the RRS under the leadership of Tunji Disu is a completely different story. I doubt anyone in Lagos has any negative report on the RRS.
Please let's appreciate them when necessary.

This is commendable, their presence kept hoodlums at bay. Tunji. Disu is not a quota system DCP, he understands leadership and motivation of subordinates. Kudos to the team
