thanks a million brother, will that 300k be enough for six weeks feeding and accommodation?
Oh. I was actually calculating for 2 weeks. You'll need more than 300k for 6 weeks. You should get an Airbnb appartment for as low as $20 which will equate to about 300k for 6weeks. We've not added feeding, taxi and some other expenses.

My brother, I have stayed in Almadies for a few weeks so I can tell you plainly: cost of living in Senegal is much higher than in Nigeria. Everything is denominated in Euros and charged in CFA accordingly.

The first shocker was being asked to pay $10 by an immigration officer whom I engaged with to tell me where to wait as we got in there by 2.30am.

Second shocker was when I paid 25,000 CFA to go from the Blaise Diagne airport into town (N17,250) at the time. N17,000 for airport taxi? Hmm.

To stay in hotel, you pay a tourist's tax of 1,000 CFA per day. Everything is just on the upside: food, drinks, transport, etc. Plenty of Europeans in the country and that is what is driving up costs. Moreover, if you do not speak French or Wolof, sorry for you.

On the flip side, the people are nice. The place is safe: you hardly see AK-47 totting police on the road. Plenty of tourist spots. Plenty of Igbo guys too: very noisy and loud in their ways.

There is Ecobank there. My Payoneer MasterCard worked very well. You can pull out equivalent of 100,000CFA at once so it saves you on fees.

But if you do not have money or you are not going there for business, forget that place.
On point bros. Senegal is not cheap everything is in thousands, been here for more than a year now and trying to speak french.

Paying 75kcfa (45k naira monthly) for studio i dey lament but what to do. Abeg plan well before you move o

Don’t go to Senegal if you don’t have a place to stay or enough money.
Go to Seme border and board a car to Cotonou
You will see buses going from Cotonou to Bamako, Mali
Bamako to Dakar
Be ready for for one week journey from Seme to Dakar and be already to pay more than 10K CFA at every border has a Nigerian.
Benin - Burkina Faso - Mali
Mali to Senegal
They believe Nigerians are rich.
Senegal is fun and more expensive than Nigeria
Everything worked well in that country

Re: Can I Get Direct Bus To Senegal From Lagos? by seunny4lif(m): 4:34pm On Sep 23, 2019
Yes for sure
Nigerians in Senegal esp Igbos are noisy
Be careful with Nigerians and never show that you have money with you
They will tell you all sweet stories just to make you drop some changes but those changes at the end of the end is big
Senegalese police knows a foreigner and a Senegalese person.
They think almost all Nigerians in Senegal deal with Internet fraud because our eastern brothers show off too much.
Dakar is fun

Don't over stress yourself, from seme border or IDI iroko, cross the border and take a taxi to Cotonue there is a direct bus in Cotonue going to Dakar the journey is very long prepare for 3 days at the minimum, when you get to Tokpa in Cotonue, just tell any okada man that you are going to Senegal Park they will take you there. As you have read earlier, go with atleast 600k for that 6 weeks and l beleive Senegal is one of the best place to learn embroidery in Africa their own style is very unique and mouthwatering. For accommodation you should be able to bargain for 75k per month.

The other commenters are saying "Senegal" when really they should be saying "Dakar".

Dakar is the capital and is expensive. That's why I asked earlier if you speak French. If you don't, Dakar may be your best bet as it is cosmopolitan and tourist-oriented. If you do though, you can stay anywhere in the country.

Where exactly are you learning embroidery? Could you check if there are embroidery schools or trainings outside Dakar?

You can type your searches in Google Translate and paste the French translation on Google. Maybe search for Google Senegal and search in that website (Not Google Nigeria)

I don't really understand French but I believe I will get what i want despite the language. Am a very fast learner,I'm already good in embroidery just that I want to learn the Senegalese embroidery. I'm just like someone that 've been driving bikes for 15 years and decides to switch to learn how to drive car, definitely you know it will never take more than 2 to 3weeks to get use to the car depending on the persons IQ.I so much believed the language will never be a barrier to me.My major aim is the learning as far as the place is a major market where there's lots of customers coming daily, then am very much ok

I was in Dakar in April, and I'll tell you the standard of living there is very high. From taxi fares to food etc. Their immigration officers at the airport are very corrupt too. Just go with as much money as you can for the two weeks.
Do you mean standard of living or cost of living? They're kinda different,u know.
