why won't we love foreign products does the government provide company to produce a durable products for us to consume? See our government is confused they don't know what they are doing, why would you close border when we don't have other means of getting imported items or have a means of getting it locally? At least before you close and barn foreign products you must have a local products which is equal or up to task.
You're the one confused dear, you can still import through our ports but no smuggling from the borders

Anyone can be a Dangote ... just get the government to stop others or frustrate them from doing the same business as you.

If you’re still not wealthy enough or other billionaires are closing the wealth gap on you, run to the government to block the borders. Simple.

American billionaires, I respect.
Nigerian billionaires, I don’t. Not even 1 billionaire is out to “create” solutions for problems. What we’ve got in Nigeria are merchants, not businessmen.
Well said. We need to endure somethings to get better as a nation. Even if we don't all agree or like the government of the day...

I'm not a fan of this govt, but I agree with this move 100%.
Nigerians and their love for foreign products is on another level. Even when the alternative is available, we go for the foreign product believing they are better. I have a friend with that shallow mentality, and many Nigerians are like that.
On the side of security, this is also a 'spot-on' move.

Importing products we can manufacture is the reason why we are still where we are. If China was importing, they won't be where they are today. We can do away with smuggling. Your friend should import through the ports and pay the tariffs. Now is the time for those creative Nigerians to see the opportunity in this and take good advantage of it instead of lamenting.

This isn't even true. Flavours tend to change with time due to so many factors, and one of them is due to the fact that company tend to rebrand their products and give it a new face to fight competition. And I sense inferiority complex that is affecting so many Nigerians in your comment.

What are you saying wat is inferiority complex I’m saying there is change in the standard of product so Gala sausage that use to be beefy filled with meat has rebranded and almost half inside the roll is empty space the Nigerian economy and policy is not favorable for these manufacturers so they reduce the product quality sometimes quantity too just to effect profit while still maintaining average price for that product.

What is the competition's standard? And how on earth is half of inside the roll empty? I've tried all sausages, and I can tell you the taste of Gala is still the same since 2002 that I started eating it. And the size only changed due to the economy. Quantity is expected to reduce in prices of products, or you pay more.

But the problem now is the alternative is not available. Even where its available, its way more expensive that imported products. Until the necessary infrastructures are put in place, this border closure is just a simple case of increasing suffering
We need it to reset our brains.
