The only beneficiaries of the 1960 independence are the Politicians because the only independence we got was the freedom to rule ourselves. Between Nigeria's ruling class and the colonial masters, who would you prefer to rule you today? If for nothing, a white man cannot survive in an environment without INFRASTRUCTURE. The institutions and systems especially Education too will be strong. If not for the bad side of Apartheid, (which doesn't exist in Nigeria colony), the only reason why South Africa has all the infrastructure they have today is because of the white men. I really think, if Nigeria's independence has been delayed till the year 2000 at least, the infrastructure would have been better than it is. Like if you agree. Share if you disagree I wish you PERSONAL independence 4 Likes 1 Share |

Almost tempted to agree cos if it is the colonial masters doing the stealing of the country's resources you will know were to channel your anger to rather we have our own fellow brothers doing it is so frustrating & annoying. 2 Likes |

South Africa was a different scenerio from that of Nigeria and other typical colonised countries; it wasnt really a colony. The whites had settled there for a very long time and took it as there home; whatever could be exploited, they utilised it there and for themselves. The living conditions of the blacks pre-apartheid was a far cry from those of the whites coupled with having to live like outcasts in your own land. We probably would have been far worse than we are now,had we still been a colony. Most or majority lf nigeria's wealth would have been exploited and further used to develop britain. The remaining left would have been squandered by their Nigerian sub-officials. In reality, while below expectations,Nigeria have achieved a lot lot more post independence than during british colonial rule. |
