The first thing Lagos should do is to expand this BRT bus scheme to all nooks and crannies of Lagos. Get more private cars off the road. Improve on the water transport system through PPP and allow subsidies in the interim. These two schemes will get more cars off the roads which leads to less carbon emissions. Then we can now consider having more trees and gardens. On the long run, we can now develop our beaches and work on the shoreline protection system. Lagos can do it. As for where the money will come from, if you float a Lagos state bond to source for funds in this regards, it will be sold out in few days. Comfortable BRT buses which are faster and time saving will generate quantum revenue for Lagos state. I can afford to go build in the outskirts of Epe or ikorodu if I am guaranteed good transport to take me to and fro my daily tasks in record time. |

Unless our people are enlightened and educated about the rising impact of climate change Unless we stop cutting down trees at the current rates Unless big corporations adopts the use of bio degradable materials and reverse logistics Unless we tone down on our CO2 and GHG emissions from both industrial and personal use and adopt renewable energy Unless we adopt and enforce an ethical waste disposal, especially in Nigeria and other third world countries. Climate change is a collective issue and it is not natural, we as humans brought this on ourself and it requires a collective solutions if it’s not too late already. An article I read not long ago argued that we need 4 more planet earth to withstand the damage we have caused to the only known habitable planet we live in. We are burning our planet and the signs are everywhere; weather patterns are changing, temperature is rising globally, sea level is rising. Unless we take actions while we can, we are all doomed and coming generations will suffer the most. 2 Likes |

Been telling you Lagos folks for years now. The Sky News report on climate change a few days ago was even more damning, the results of which are clear. The biggest polluters China and the United States are running neck and neck to the economic trophy tape so both will not cease pumping carbon into the air anytime soon. But you folks should not make too much noise until I have exploited the Lekki corridor and the property market to its fullest before bailing out by 2025 (at the most), then I guess it will all be downhill from there as far as house prices go. My guess is that by the time my kids will be buying their own homes the only thing standing in that axis will be the Dangote refinery behind a monumental sand bank.... because he can afford it. Others will have to take a ferry from Ikeja to the Dangote Island passing the sunken Lagos and Victoria Islands gasping in utter amzement at what has become like Venice. Folks, Lagos Island, Victoria Island, Lekki Peninsula, Portharcourt, Yenegoa and other such places have no viable long term prospects. We have done a long term climate risk assessment in our operations in the south and the prognosis is dire. The solutions are simple, if it cannot float then we are not going long term. One of my partners actually asked me two years back after seeing the computer generated models of sea level ingress into our operational area whether concrete could float. I told him quite frankly..... we need such miracles in Nigeria going forward. Call it GDP, call it resources, call it income, call, it livelihood or investments but all I know is that as a nation, 90 to 95 percent is located within 20 to 30 miles from the Atlantic and is in direct crosshairs of ocean surge and one of the greatest challenges modern man has ever encountered, climate change. We are in big, big trouble in this country. Our greatest undoing will be our inability to diversify. Our greatest Achilles heel is our herd mentality in rushing to the coast for survival. 7 Likes 1 Share |

This Is what we humans brought upon ourselves, Amazon forest that's serves as our co2 storage went ablaze this year thereby releasing tons of co2 to the atmosphere. The world freezer "antartica" is shrinking and giving out tons of water everyday. So I won't be surprise if Miami or Lagos partially shrink cos this climatic crises is not a laughable issues ooo. Ur fool president in the UN said he will order Nigerian youth to plant millions of trees across the country. 1 Like |

Overpopulation is the major cause of climate change. more than half of the world's population needs to be wiped off |
