Bro its normal now for companies to request for your pension account details so that part of your salary and part from your company will be paid into your pension account. So even if you resign from this company later, you can still maintain the details in other company.....
So go and register with Leadway pensure or stanbic ibtc.....
I personally use Leadway pensure( am not their agent but got reviews from old timers). They send alerts yo u each time you are paid......Stanbic is good too. do make your choice.

Listen my dear. Sorry for your loss. .....
Getting a Letter of Administration is not an easy task that can be done alone. Its something that can take up to 6mths or more.
So u actually need the services of a lawyer. If the one u saw charged too much, then get another one.....

But know one thing, once those lawyers know how much is at stake, then their charges increase.....

I will advise you, get all the necessary dociments. Submit yo ur pfa, make a photocopy and take to abuja yourself to pursue it. Go to pencom for the accrued rights and death benefits, then proceed to office of head of service for the Group life.

This is wat I did by Gods grace after almost three years (including time for letter of administration) they paid the accrued rights, still waiting for group life.

But this thing aught not to be like this. Why will a government that waste 1.6m daily on food, billons on entertainment be so insensitive

If you have any question let me know I will be glad to help.
pls Sir like how many months did it take before they pay the accrued rights

Payment of death benefit is the sole responsibility of PENCOM and not the PFA. Have you done the documentation? If Yes, which month & year did you submit the documents? I need this info to find out the batch you are being placed. However, PENCOM paid batch 72 on 17th of May, 2019. So the next batch, 73, is currently being processed for payment anytime soon.

which batch are they now paying?
Do someone need to submit another application after submitting for the dead notification and accrued right. Do we need to still submit application for withdrawal?

If really you did documentation last month, then you have not been placed on any batch yet. I'm afraid to tell you that you will have to wait for more than a year, if your deceased relative was a Federal government staff and worked prior to June, 2004 before CPS was introduced. Because his or her accrued rights comes from the national budget.

If the deceased worked for FG after June 2004, then you may not wait that long. It will take 3 to 6 months to receive payment. This is obtainable because he or she has no accrued benefit. The same thing is applicable to Private sector deceased employees.

However, do remind me of PENCOM contact number for more clarifications. I don't have it off hand to give to you now.

Pls read my comment again. The questions are if the deceased is a FG staff and the year he or she was employed. Not when he or she stopped working or died.

I'm afraid you will have to wait till 2020 budget is passed into law. You will probably be paid in 2021. I'm talking from experience. I did my documentation in December 2017 and sadly I'm still yet to be paid, though I'm being placed for the next batch, which is coming up within the year. The retirement and death benefit system of this country sucks. So just brace up.

However, i doubt if your deceased pfa has forwarded the documents to PENCOM yet, they will do their verification before doing so. Always call his or her pfa while you call PENCOM too.

Please how did you process the group life insurance benefit? I'm really stucked and don't know how to go about it. My mother passed on in August 2015 and we have not even accessed her contributions and accrued rights, let alone the group life. I did the documentation in December 2017 with Premium pension. Though PENCOM has placed us on the next batch for payment. She was working as a FG staff.

My primary concern now is how to process the group life insurance. Pls help me with any useful details. How did you go about it in your own pursuit. I'm going through hell. Pls reply me here or PM me.

I will be grateful!

All you need is loads of patience... Ensure you submit all necessary documents needed. You can look up pencom website for more info. Always Stay in contact with her PFA- premium pensions. If possible, try to get the phone number of any reliable worker in premium pensions Abuja. Such a person will be giving you first hand information. Remember...a lot of patience.

Thank you so much. The problem is if the insurance benefits will be paid at all to my family. Do you think families of FG deceased employees who passed on in 2015 are being paid?

I guess my own will take forever. My father died in 2014. I contacted ARM pension as regards his benefits. I was told his RSA was unfunded. I was advised to contact his employer. I submitted all necessary documents for Group life and also remittance of the CPS.
The documents were forwarded to PENCOM and Ministry in charge for his Group life in May, 2015.
The RSA was funded in May 2019. I was asked by his PFA to submit documents for payments of his death benefits. Which I did immediately. And it took about 2 months for verification of Death Certificate and ROA.
Now, I have to wait for PENCOM to take years to pay his Accrued Rights before I have access to the balance on his RSA.
This is just not fair.
