You're right sad and its for the same reason Netflix bought it tongue. Just do your best, try& create something lipsrsealed Make sure you feature Jackie chan( 4 special acting) coolyou can even invite Paul Walker from the dead; that's gonna make that perfect story line. But remember that even if Micheal Jackson sing live in your movie; your type in Nigeria will still talk you down "Yes!!" grin that's because, they think they can do it too but haven't started nothing grin
Bonatheripper:
No hating but the movie is just there....
I'll back it up with facts.

No special acting,
No special storyline,
No special cinematography
No special anything.
No outstanding acting from anyone.

At least it has been submitted... That alone should be enough.
But if it wins, then the Oscars has lost it's prestige.

Chai. Bad belleeeeeee. From one section. Chai. There are levels and criteria to this. Lionheart has surpassed these levels and satisfied these criteria. No movie before now has gotten close to the "basic criteria". Just the basic criteria!

But people who think they know better are shouting "overhyped". Watch the film get very close or even knick it. Bloody idiots.

You said it all, 'you know nothing.' grin goodnews is that you could be better that both but being Tribalistic is a barrier for creativity. Lionheart is a narrative of norms from the earthen part of Nigeria. Am even sure you haven't watched this movie, those highlights u saw re not enough cool

I've seen wayyyyy better movies than Lionheart. If that is the one being nominated for the Oscars.... then I don't ever want to see the rest that were in the running. To me... Lionheart was veryyyy disappointing....no doubt... I can't think of any movie Genevieve was in that was such a ehmmm.... disaster. It was not engaging period.... no direction.... no suspense.... in fact... I couldn't even follow what was going on.... so bad that the movie could've ended at any moment.... I wished it did earlier instead of just plodding along forever and ever before amen the end. So why should this movie represent Nigeria ? People would be reasoning if this is the best... then let me stay clear of other movies from this region. it is better no movie be nominated than this piece of ....

All these people crying have just started. I'm confident Genny will hit them with another one soon. Remember she got over a billion naira from Lionheart.

Lionheart still remains the bullet that made the most impact in the Nigerian movie industry& Africa scene at large.
Genevieve nnaji woke the creative minds that were asleep. Demonstrated patriotism using Nigerians made cars and extracts, best casts and talents.
The movie garnered more than what was expected.
Being her first directed play on screen and at that made such exploit; Lionheart deserves Oscar and other noble awards.
Nollywood is no longer a joke industry. Directors are now woke. They now know there are standards.
I expect more from them. But then, let appreciate & applaud Lionheart irrespective of your tribe. Like it or leave it, history was made by Genevieve nnaji cool kiss

But why bring Prof. Wole Soyinka into this? Yes, he won the Nobel prize but most importantly he has justified why he belongs with the best in literature and has continued to do that in the years after. Prof. Soyinka's 'The man died' is a great read. Go check it out.
I've read it. It's not even upto 600 pages...anyways I love him but the whites are destroying our standards..

A good one Genevieve, more grease to you, but waiting for when you will cast the poor for your productions that is, if you remember when you also toiled before you got to where are today. They talk so good about you and I wish you can wipe their tears someday. Congratulations because LIONHEART will sail through.

King of boys does not meet Oscar standards.

According to the article, this is the first time Nigeria is sending a film to the Oscars because our films don't follow the rules laid down by Oscars.

Lionheart is the first film from Nigeria that meets the criteria.

You don't know better than them.

Ethnic dingbats writing nonsense. They'll be shocked the movie will go far in the award 'cos apart from its fine directing, cast and soundtrack, the politics of the era favours its storyline which has a feminist appeal, first of such from Africa done by a woman.

It was overhyped and the storyline lacked depth. I have read great stories on nairaland, I wonder why our filmmakers don't come here to source for materials.

I also wonder. So many great stories in the Literature section.
