I don't use stove or kerosene stove .I used simply charcoal.not new in this game that is what that really help me if not I would have lost all the bird. I don't record any single mortality since I have gather enough knowledge in the biz even if the bird are premature but this one I lost 5 birds already. If not that I knew the symptoms of Newcastle that makes me detect and moved fast from the very first day I would have lost all the bird..thank God shaa

Hello @ Emma, Tukrs and all the profs here.

Please I have solid green poop in my broilers litter, 6 weeks of age. They are eating and drinking well, and also looking healthy and agile. Please what could be the cause and solution
Light Green or dark green? If it's light green, it could be Newcastle. If it's dark green, it could as a result of other symptoms including feeding greens to the birds.

I'm planning to get agrited in 10days time to raise till Xmas. does that mean I should get my birds from another source rather dan agrited?

From his description? Doubt it.

It could also be intestinal shedding or even worms.

You have an issue with New castle disease. The poo in the picture suggests so. You’d have to eventually cull those birds as you cannot vaccinate sick birds.

Hello house, I'm a newbie in poultry, so I wanted to raise 50 birds from next week Monday till Xmas which is 10weeks, and I understand I'll have to feed dem ad-libitum to meet up with d Xmas sales.

my question is How much will I spend from day old till 10weeks?

how many bag of feed?

thanks
Re: ... by Turks: 5:07am On Oct 10, 2019
Isolate the birds..
Give Polidine for five days (all the flock)
Give La Sota on the 6th day
Give vitamins on the 7th

I really wish you the very best as the immunity of these birds have been compromised.

Book 6-7kg feed per broiler. Thats 300kg (12 bags ) to 350kg (14 bags) feed but your weight should be above 3kg

I just finished readjusting the height and size of my pen at home to take 100 plus broilers comfortably. My initial goal was to rent a pen close to my area to raise at least 300 broilers but all seem to be unavailable. At least my freezers will be working to its capacity now. tongue

My next batch might be available from next week. I might include monensin to avoid use of any drug at all or might want to see if the feed additives (probotics, enzymes) might be enough to keep cocci at bay.
Its currently been used on a farm of a friend and at least i should be able to monitor the performance before mine arrives.

Good morning.

You can even get 4kg + at 10 weeks. The main agent here is good feed.

No hatchery yet but Monesin is a cocciodiostat that is used in feed. It prevents coccidiosis and enhances growth.

You may not need it. It's best for those who formulate their feeds.

It's very hard to get the full nutritional info if you formulate fully without concentrates.
Our grains and fishmeal and Co are not standard. They differ in nutritional quality. But it's still possible to formulate with concentrates.

There is this popular person Emmanuel Jacob I know who gets 3kg plus in 7 weeks using his non concentrate formulated mill.

Yeah. The same anti nutrients affecting human is affecting the birds. Personally, fish protein is a no. For sure, its going to be adulterated. We know the price of fish itself is not cheap. I pity people who still go for fish meal.

My brother, all grains are GMOs. There is hardly any grain without anti nutrients these days. I guess I know the way forward. These are what I am researching and coming up with solutions.

If selling parts, lean muscle/ meat is very essential, which means one must avoid some raw materials. There is a particular feed I was told about made from noodles wastes. Well, the digestive rate of noodles is high, but the damage to health is very huge.

It is true, getting full nutritional info for what we produce here is hard. I was just thinking about it recently that it's an advantage for me since I am a vegetable farmer. Its time to research grain seeds that are non GMos and get one with fairly good yield and then remove all the bad nutrients in it. Still, I dont know why many farmers font use alfasafe. It's just too cheap. So, why they dont use, I still cannot understand. I definitely do not want to buy from such farmer.

I believe that its possible I achieve 3kg+ too in 7 weeks. In fact, average of 3.5, even up to 3.8kg might be possible. But will require producing grains myself, or commissioning farmers to my specification. I would love to commission farmers, but these ones on nairaland would bombard it with herbicides even 1 week before harvest. And that herbicide is top on the list of anti nutrients in grains. I guess using concentrates truly saves one so much headache. But really, I will give formulating non concentrate feed a trial. Its just better than these rubbish feeds by Nigerian producers..
Re: ... by Nobody: 6:15pm On Oct 11, 2019
Anti nutrients can be dealt with by using enzymes. This is of particular importance, given the more aggressive feed processing conditions used today in many animal feed mills.

Feed digestion is the key to successful animal performance. Enzymes help to degrade some of the main anti-nutritional factors (e.g. phytates and non-starch polysaccharides) present in animal feeds. This improves digestion and nutrient absorption, enhances performance and provides proven economic and environmental benefits.
This can help to compensate for the animal's poor diet. The popular components of good enzymes include Amylase, Protease, Cellulase, Lipase, Pectinase, Xylanase, Beta-Glucanase, Phytase.

On the issue of harmful herbicides, there are toxin binders which will help to detoxify the birds. It fights against mycotoxicosis and harmful chemicals that may be present in the feed. An example here is Nutrox

Did you administer multivitamins and hope you are feeding well.
Admacine is to be used for 5 days. I saw somewhere it was said antivirals destroy the vaccine virus if administered close together.
