Ikpeazu Declares ‘Operation Zero Potholes’ In Abia State by Nobody: 9:32am On Oct 09, 2019 |
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has declared operation zero potholes in the state. The declaration is coming on the heels of media tour of the completed and ongoing sites in the state. The governor has directed contractors handling the projects to work mostly in the night to ensure minimal disruption of traffic. Also, contractors handling some of the projects in the state have been given between October and November to deliver the projects or risk sanctions. This is as the contractor handling Okpu – Umuobo – Mgboko Obingwa Road has been directed to resume work immediately to ensure completion before the end of first quarter of 2020. The affected projects were Osisioma Junction – MCC Junction of Aba – Owerri Road; Obikabia – Umuene Road; Afo Ibeji Umuahia palliative work; Aba Road Umuahia; Osusu Road; Abiriba – Nkporo Road. While the state Ministry of Works has also been directed to execute extensive palliative maintenance work on Ururuka Road within 10 days to ensue free flow of traffic on all segments of the road, the contractor handling Osisioma flyover was directed to immediately commence sucking out the water at the road median preparatory to final phase of work on the project. https://www.independent.ng/ikpeazu-declares-operation-zero-potholes/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook 1 Like |

He is not taking lightly the threat from ABA Women who protested days ago and gave him 90 days ultimatum. Igbo women when they speak as a group can make the state ungovernable, they did it to the colonial masters in 1929 and can repeat same in 2019, Ikpeazu knows better. Ikpeazu supporters quickly arranged some urchins to organise counter protest but failed to win any sympathy. Another reality is that you dare not touch the women protesting in Igboland, even when police arrested IPOB women Rochas Okorocha ran to Abuja to ask Buhari to summon the police to release them quickly, he even gave them money as compensation. Kudos to Nigerian women for helping us in Abia State 35 Likes |

At least he is doing something tangible. Although for a pothole to appear on a tared road, it means the road is not thick enough. So even if you covered the already appeared potholes, more will appear in a short time. |
