Nope, that's not all.

Someone just said something about DC surpassing Marvel in box office earnings by 2021.

is that all?

That's the thing, I don't have a thing for both. I've gone through a better part of their respective filmographies to be objective in this topic. Joaquin is good, but overrated. Cooper is good, but underrated. My smart money has Cooper winning a Oscar in a few years. Cannot say the same for Joaquin.

Joaquin is not in any way overrated. And Cooper is not underrated. They are both properly rated.

Just that Phoenix has been acting and dishing our performances for a long time before Brad: more reason why there's an interest in his Oscar contention for Best actor following Joker. Trust me, Cooper's buzz will come.

Just as you've gone through their filmographies, so have I.

And I don't use Oscars to judge the talent of an actor. It's well know that the Oscars can be political/biased in their awards.

Is it the same Oscars that gave Robert Benigni best actor for Life is beautiful when Norton did wonders in American History X.

Or best actor for Di Caprio when Michael Fassbender gave a sterling performance in Steve Jobs.

When we talk about best actors working now, you hardly hear Nicolas Cage, Adrien Brody but they have Oscars: for best actor oh.

At the end of the day, arguements like this are subjective. There's enough "best" and "better" for everyone.

That's a far out lane-stain, all actors have the potential to be great, all it takes are research, commitment, lessons, they all have the potential to keep you at the edge of your seat, they have the ability to be flexible, you might be surprised seeing a typical typecast in another role, a role you weren't sure was for them, that's the thing about acting, it goes all out and JP and BC or "great actors" are not exempted

JP and Cooper have the potential to be great. Yes.

But a certain actor can be perceived to be better than another at a particular point in time.

And that's the issue: at this point in time, the consensus is that Phoenix is better than Cooper.

I say YES to that.

Doesn't take away the fact that Cooper might do wonders tomorrow.

But when Endgame and Infinity War were getting encomiums left, right and center, you forgot we had no originality and were dickriders. You happily celebrated as we dickrode MCU. Now Joker is getting its fair of share of praises, you're sounding so bitter. I smell more of hypocrisy than unoriginality.
All these dickriding talk is so gay. tongue cheesy

Oscars is the pinnacle of an actor's vocation. It's the World Cup of films. An actors entire acting career/legacy is judged by the number of Oscar nominations and wins they garnered. No offense, but if you don't rate Oscars, then you have no business discussing movies.

Nicholas Cage is one of the best character actors of his generation. In his prime, he was revered. I was listening to Rosenbaum's podcast the other day, and he said one actor every person in Hollywood wants to work with is Nicholas Cage, because he's very easy to work with, very aptitudinal, and completely devoid of ego when he's working. He also said that the reason Cage takes on so many dumpster fire roles nowadays (as opposed to in the past) is the fact that he's knee-deep in debt. Basically, he cannot afford to be picky.

So, as you can see, you don't know what you're talking bout. I mean, I never thought I'd see the day someone will unironically rate Fassbender more than DiCaprio, but here we are.

I don't think I have the luxury of delving into Cage's career even if I want to.

One thing with you is that you fail to take cognizance of people's choices especially when it doesn't align with yours. It was a civil arguement until you decided to deride my choices in as much as I've respected yours.

I could start another arguement on Nic's career and stick to my viewpoint. But I won't, perhaps another day.

The original conversation was on JP and BC.

And if it irks you so much. Then I'll repeat: Michael Fassbender deserves the Oscar for Steve Jobs than Leornardo Di Caprio in The Revenant.

I don't think he implied that, rather he PROBABLY meant for the year Leo finally got his Oscar, Fassbender put out a better performance. That's what I think he meant by his statement.

You're the one that brought up Nicholas Cage, not me, fella. If you're going to put something out there, at least, make it original, you feel me?

Anyhoo, moving on.

OK then. I rate Leo over Fassbender generally, but Fassbender is a fantastic actor, very nuanced and can play any role he sets his mind to. He has time on his hand to win an Oscar.

But Norton and Benigni vyed for the award under Best Actor category, so he has a point. I think he's talking about the category which both of them were contesting for not necessarily the genres of their movies.

It's not an unpopular opinion. It's no secret that the Green Book didn't deserve the Oscar for best picture.

Hope you know that it was a popular opinion at the time that Edward Norton was more deserving of the Best Actor awards at the Oscars than Roberto Benigni.

So popular that Empire included it among:

"22 Incredibly Shocking Oscars Injustices".

His performance was also ranked by Total Film as the 72nd-greatest film performance of all time.

Yet you say I'm wrong.

Woh! Let's just agree to disagree.

Meanwhile, we did a customer service training at work and the trainers talked about the DISC personality types.

I might be wrong, but you sound like the D (Dominance) type.

Do you lead any team at work?

A good example is The Jason Statham you see in The Revolver and the Jason Statham of now a days, If I didnt know better I would have thought the Jason Statham in The Revolver came from an alternate universe - maybe he is different because of the hair locks grin
