Team dru23 representing, only use genuine honda fluid on your car. Have the engine examine, if sludge had already build up, stick to the old engine oil. Find out how long ago the person change the transmission fluid

Honda transmission uses aft Dw1..change it to the recommend Honda oyel to prolong your transmission cos I believe you would have to change it more than once in a couple of days for the gear to adapt to the new oyel.. For the engine. Check the engine cap... And ask owner the previous oyel used.. Also.. As advised earlier by the pros.. Check if the car has sludge.. If it dosent..you can use recommended engine oyel.. This is where dru35 Comes to play

Does gearbox have any relationship with radiator? Cos I noticed that one of the radiator horse that connects to my engine got burst and gear refuses to rev not more than 37km. And it resulted to leakages of my transmission oil. Now am scared it doesn't scattered my gearbox

Yes it does. There is a hose that sends transmission fluid to your radiator for cooling. It appears that hose is leaking, now you don't have enough ATF for the gear to work properly.

Don't be alarmed, this is an opportunity for you to replace the fluid with the proper Honda spec. Before you do that, find out what damaged the hose and fix it. I don't think you have any problem with the transmission, although you would need a mechanic to inspect and confirm.

Previous owner probably had transmission nightmares before selling this car to you.

That's true. I drove the car in town but didn't notice it. It was when I went for a long journey, the bad transmission sign pooed up with my D plinking on the dashboard.

Mech checked and confirmed that the gear box is bad and they would have to fix it, it a 50/50 chance which he doesn't recommend and that I should get a new transmission

Op concerning your transmission issue, If i was in your shoes here is what i will do

- Top up the transmission fluid with the cheaper oando fluid
- If the car drives well then all is well.. Replace the oando with the Recommended transmission fluid
