There is nothing rugged about our training over here, I’m not really upset that some of y’all mentality is skewed to accept brutality as a form of military training, there is no end to what these chatter boxes can say or imagine, you can be a victim tomorrow.

I believe you are amongst those citing the US Army with superior training etc. Just a quick reminder the US Army is still fighting the talibans in Afghanistan since 2001 till today. Brother the day you fully understand the difference between guerilla and conventional warfare then I would have proper answer for you.

Uwaomaokey:

Oh yeah! Which military is not meant for babies, babies who retreat and can’t maintain formation, babies who have poor situational awareness, babies who lack operational tactics and etc. Babies squaring up with a rag-tag group, this is a shame really.

Oh yeah! Keep this up, I’m glad we ain’t aiming at each other’s throat yet, so in your unmatched wisdom, what kind of war are we fighting then, a little knowledge of it from you will go a long way to help me then?

I decided to stay quiet because I now understand why lecturers have been fucking female students and oppressing them in Nigeria with impunity. The mentality of the Nigerian people is NOT conducive to accepting civilized norms.

Nobody flog any Israeli, British, American soldier in training yet they are more effective than Nigerian soldiers who endured all manner of unnecessary suffering. It is considered physical assault to flog or hit a soldier in training, such soldier has right to seek redress.

I swear, with this mentality wey many people get wey I de read so, no good change go happen for any sector for 9ja even in de next 1,000 years.

I think I need my sanity, I need to preserve it. I have to forget about this army job. Mad people everywhere, people accepting physical abuse, torture and all manner of shit as normal military training, oh my God! I better leave here.

Military flogging was abolished in the United States Army on 5 August 1861.

We have great future officers in dis place, I pray our mentalities won't change after enlistment.

Bro many things in Nigeria defy logic and common sense.

For example, laws in Europe and America have been adjusted and always open to review in order to meet up with 21st century realities. Other civilized countries outside Europe are copying these good example. But the OPPOSITE is the case in Nigeria. Colonial and archaic laws are still very much alive in Nigeria. The lawyers in this group know am saying the truth.

Just Google the height requirement for British armed forces and United States armed forces and see for yourself. They accept 1.52 meters. These are people who understand that brain, and ability to use weapon and the stamina to endure highly demanding physical activities has nothing to do with height. These people constantly review their things to make sure they don't deny anyone who has capacity to contribute positively the opportunity to do so.

Do we care about quality in Nigeria? Some shameless graduates are here supporting barbaric physical abuse of trainees and cadets. From what I read here on nairaland I know Nigeria is a mess. Imagine the quality of thinking of university graduates? Oh my God!

Most of you have comprehension problem. I don't think anyone here has said the mode of punishment during training is good, the thing there is based on reality on ground this heinous punishments still exists, people (candidates) will be decieving themselves if they think they won't face all this in camp. If one is really interested in this job, he/she should be ready to swallow nonsense/humiliation from instructors and prep wingers that's the fact on ground.
Efforts have being made in the past to out an end to this to no avail just go there and come out you can't change the system as a cadet or junior officer, it is the responsibility of senior officers at TRADOC.

Bro I don’t know your type, there is no point in throwing banters but one thing am sure of is this. A lot of the persons complaining here have parents who are generals or influential individuals or know some generals or influential individuals. Instead of you to channel your grievances through the right channels advising them on what the 21st century’s policies entails and the need for them to adjust you come online and cry wolf. Do you think your ranting online will or would change a damn thing. Now let me inform you Incase you don’t know if you are caught MALTREATING an individual in the Military is straight dismissal. The Army encourages good drilling but never excessive flogging. A lot of boys got dismissed because of that in NMS. Peace wink

I read lebete3000 story.
His own was an accident which was not self inflicted nor due to his health.....it was caused by a third party.

On that note the army was suppose to take care of him which they didn't and that was what pained the chairman.

Las Las na list we all dey wait for.......lol
I didn't say his case was as a result of health issues. The point I was trying to make is that people that wanna bring idealist narrative about the Nigerian army should read his story and prepare for reality in training, those guys(soldiers) can be very wicked atimes whether you break your neck e nor concern them, 2016 a female cadet @ NDA broke her leg during one of their exercises, she was brought to 44ref hospital for treatment and to utter surprise of some of the civilians present one Colonel(Medical Doctor) welcomed her with a terrible slap, raking that what was she thinking about that made her break her leg. Can you now imagine the mentality of (mediks) that suppose to even show compassion to patients, lebete even described the nurses at Jaji as witches grin .
The thing their is successful candidates should just drop their ajeboness at home and zero their mind if they really love this profession. Unless they get plenty money to dey "sort" prep wingers for training and the most annoying thing is that those prep wingers are little children, some haven't written Jamb when some short service cadets graduated, the thing dey pain but you gast swallow your pride.

Chai! NMS, I can never forget. One idiotic staff sergeant like that (quartermaster of alpha company) gave me 20 koboko for ordinary screening, for an offence I didn't commit. My skin tore that day and blood gushed out. If I find that man still in the army tomorrow, wahalai I go shoot am for head straight.

We understand what you're trying to say but your wrong choice of words is d ish here.
It is totally wrong for you to say someone who's ready to lay down his life for his country is an "ajebo". Next time just say one should prepare for wicked people in training.

It's all these same mentality that has turned our force personnel into beasts that harass civilians upadan.

An Oyinbo Soldier will reply you with: "Yes maam, Yes sir"; but everyone knows if you fvck with an Oyinbo soldier, you could be dead within 3mins.

Our soldiers here ma to dey fight because of tótò dem sabi. One soldier wey dey para dey shout "Ahua!" upadan was jacked by a Road Safety Man, Allah the man no fit move go anywhere again.

My brother choose your words wisely next time, and no one will get offended.

With the way soldiers dey go, dem go soon lose their respect like Police, cos dem don dey behave like them already.

I've just finished reading lebete3000 story. Man, crazy experience. What they did to the guy's very cruel, inhumane, and absolutely unreasonable. But nevertheless, like I'll always say, he should have zeroed his mind for the worst. This is Nigerian Army and not the US Army. jthat's the standard here, whether or not it's acceptable.

Still waiting for list though.
